Many foreigners don't know about Malaysia. You must first ask those you want to ask, whether they are Malaysians or foreigners. Most of the shop or restaurant workers there are foreigners. The Indian girl you asked in the first place is not a Malaysian. it may come from india, bangladesh, pakistan or myanmar or indonesia. So be careful.

🫡 third largest group in Malaysia is non citizen(Malay,Chinese, non citizen,India)..Malaysia has the most foreign worker in this region..high paid worker mostly from japan & korea which tourist will confuse with local chinese, low paid worker mostly from indonesia & bangladesh which tourist will confuse with local malay & india.. Malaysia ranked 2nd in tourism in this region behind Thailand, compare to Thailand that received many "white" tourist,Malaysia tourist mostly people with similar face (china, hongkong, indonesia, india, singapore etc..) so make sure to ask if they are local or not..and pointing finger is not rude ..don't believe everything on internet..everywhere you go try ask local if what you read on internet is true or just myth 😁

malaysia used to have an empire called the johor empire covering present day lands of malaysia, singapore, indonesia, timor leste, brunei and the philippines. historical city melaka and later johor baharu the southern gateway were the two most famous capitals of that empire. the empire ended when the british colonised it in the 1800s, and they took control of the vassal states of johor first, and finally johor state itself. britain made malaysia a federation of 13 colonies/protectorates, meaning johor and its 12 vassals. independence came in 1957 for 11 states in west malaysia, and again for sarawak and sabah that is east malaysia on borneo island in 1963.
