[ Kube 49.1 ] Deploy to Kubernetes cluster using Jenkins CI/CD pipeline | Building with Kaniko tool

In this video, I will show you how to do continuous deployment to Kubernetes using Jenkins CD pipeline. I will be using kaniko tool from Google to build container image from within a container as we don't have access to docker engine.

Thanks for watching. Well Jenkins is another application and I would deploy it alongside other workloads. It depends how you want to manage. You can have a separate management cluster where you can run all these stuff to be honest.

I did not see you config the "kubernetes" cloud for the kurbenetes plugin. Does it get setup automagically create a default instance if you install Jenkins in kubernetes? I will find out for myself, but its the only thing missing from this excellent video otherwise.

This was a great introduction to Jenkins. I'm having trouble running an ansible playbook through Jenkins on a k3s cluster. I have installed the ansible playbook but no luck with ansible running on an agent that is being spun up. I've tried finding an ansible container that I could do something similar to the builder.yaml, but no luck there either. Any suggestions?

Hi, thanks for watching. If container gets created in a loop, then most probably its due to some problem in pod configuration in the kubernetes cloud configuration section. Take a closer look at the jenkins logs where it keeps creating the slave pod and you might get a clue.

Hi Siva, I had been using Dell XPS 13 for many years now. I had Dell XPS 13 9370 for few years and accidentaly smashed it. Again I went for the same model but with latest generation Intel cpu. I have used Linux in Thinkpad before. From my experience, Dell XPS is well supported and I will stick with it forever. But it is on the pricey side. Its hard to find a Laptop that will work flawlessly with Linux. You may have to compromise few things. For me Dell XPS ticked most of the boxes. You will have to experiment with whether fingerprint reader is working, IR camera, trackpad etc. But performance wise, I can definitely say Dell XPS is a beast. Cheers.

Hi Venkat, Great video :) In my case I need to pull the docker jenkins inbound agent image from private registry but I dont see the option to replace with custom image, I did chaged the Agent image in Helm but somhow it seems to be fetch from dockerhub not from my private registry. Am I missing something?

Using kaniko instead of docker in Jenkins Kubernetes is slower because of kaniko caching mechanism for images is different. Do you have any practical advice on speeding building images with kaniko, Venkat? thank you
