Awesome video and great work constructing this bucket grapple! I have a Kubota bx channel myself I love these little tractors. I work mine real hard and have been trying to decide which grapple I wanna go with.. I may even build my own just like you did still trying to figure out what I wanna do

Thanks brother! I like having the grappled with the bucket. Gives me the best of both.
@BiffsEquipment4 жыл бұрын
BotaArt i totally agree! This is why I was thinking of doing the same. I take it youv really been enjoying it for far then huh? How much do you have into the entire system minus the 3rd function/diverter valve?

It’s hard to say, it’s been awhile since I did the mod. I bought the grapple from a place called Greens Machine. I’ll put the link below. greens-machine.com/

Chris, There is no reply tab for me to reply to you. The thumb is 24 inch. Did this size due to have the cutting edge. It's a great fit.
@EVModules6 жыл бұрын
You'll find that it's immensely helpful if you can couple the hydraulics on the grapple end together when it's off the loader for ease of later installation.
@agliem16 жыл бұрын
Not sure if I know what you mean.
@EVModules6 жыл бұрын
BotaArt - if the couplers on the grapple are not connected to each other with it off the bucket, any slight movement of the jaw will induce a hydraulic lock and puts pressure on the coupler, making it difficult to couple onto the tractor.

observation: Good video and good work. Gotta ask, all said and done wouldn't simple pallet forks handle most jobs.? If you are grappling all day in tight areas I could see that. Also if half the fun was making it them that aint a hanging offense. Meant nicely.
@agliem13 жыл бұрын
I seem to use the grapple more often then not. I leave it attached pretty much all the time unless I’m moving a lot of bulk material.

what size thumb did you go with? would you get a longer , shorter or is the one you got perfect?

I can’t recall the size thumb that I purchased. But when I was sizing the thumb I wanted to to close on the piranha tooth bar that I have installed. It fits perfect.

The grapple is designed to be removed with the three pins. Plus, I can unbolt and remove the mount. It's a nice setup. Will post some video of it in use.

You did a great job man, very nice welds too; I was thinking about building my own thumb for my bucket as I already have the hydraulic cylinder; would just need to find enough flat stock and metal laying around to build it. I just bought a 3rd function for my bx gonna be doing an install video on it soon, also have a hydraulic top-link that I’ll be adding to the 3rd function when a front attachment is not in use.. just gotta figure out all what fittings I’m gonna need to put it all together like I want:. Not sure if I wanna run a diverter valve coming off the 3rd function or if I just wanna un-plug a few hoses whenever I wanna use the hydraulic top link vs front attachment.. not quite sure how it’s all gonna work out yet but time will tell. Thanks for your video 👍🏻 How’s it working by the way? Have you gotten a lot of use from it? Only thing I saw that I woulda changed it possibly welding on some back stops at hinge of your grapple to help strengthen it when driving it into something hard. Hope all is well!

One problem, When grapple is up (open) the hook blade tips too far forward. You will have trouble moving bucket cutting edge close to vertical objects (fence). I have same setup on New Holland. I really like this setup for picking up wood chips, leaves, grass, because small items do not fall from bucket. Only way around it, add universal quick attach bracket on tractor.
@ArizVern7 жыл бұрын
Will be getting BX23S with backhoe and same setup with universal quick attach Plate and grapple.

Now that is by far the best one that I have seen. Nice multi use of the bucket. What 3rd valve kit did you use and price? Thank you.
@agliem17 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. I used the Land Pride third function valve. I can’t remember what I paid for it. I shopped around online and found it. It works great. I leave the thumb on all the time. Really comes in handy.
@s12836 жыл бұрын
I wish they made that sweet handle mount control for the Deere. The separate buttons make it nice, but you don’t control open or close speed correct? The kit they offer for the Deere is a diverter, press the button and swing the stick like you would to dump or curl the bucket and you get your 3rd function. Good for control of flow, not as handy if you don’t hold the button and it swaps back in the middle of one function to bucket curl.. you said you never use them both at the same time so it may not matter, but both systems seem to work as far as I can tell. Nice install btw. Any idea what you paid for the thumb itself unpainted?
@agliem16 жыл бұрын
Correct about the bottom. There is no speed control. It’s either open or close. But works wells. I believe I paid $700 for the thumb unpainted.

I have the thumb ordered, but it's not here yet. I'm hooking up my diverter valve while I wait, and trying to gather my fittings and hoses before it gets here. What are the fittings on the cylinder? Are they just npt? Looks great with the orange thumb and black cylinder!
@agliem14 жыл бұрын
Hey Smitty, it’s been so long since I did the project. I believe the fittings are straight thread as they have an O-ring that completes the seal. But double check and don’t take my word. Best of luck with the project. I love my thumb!! Been working great for me.
@smitty2jones4 жыл бұрын
@@agliem1Maybe I'll just email them and see. The diverter has those o-ring type, and those went on pretty well, so that'd be nice!

Thank you. I rather do your modification than buying another bucket to sit around. I personally believe Kubota should make their Bucket much more smarter/ adaptable to do more than one thing. Thanks again
@agliem17 жыл бұрын
I have three other videos with my Bucket. My idea was to have one Bucket that does it all. Saves time and money. I have the forks, grapple and hooks on the bucket that work great.
@Flienlow7 жыл бұрын
I wish I would have done this instead of buying a Landpride grapple. Does it work as good as it looks?
@agliem17 жыл бұрын
Flienlow I considered the the Landpride grapple too. Saved $$ and made the Bucket more versatile. Grapple works great.
@agliem17 жыл бұрын
Flienlow I too considered the grapple. But by going this route, make the bucket more versatile. Plus saved me money. It works great!
@edwardknight65284 жыл бұрын
How thick was that angle stock you used for the mount on top of the bucket?
@agliem14 жыл бұрын
I think it was 1/4”. You can probably get away with 3/16” as well to save on weight. Also, I ended up extending the angle the full bucket length. I had to do this due to it flexing the bucket and causing it to begin to crack. No issues now with the angle going the full bucket length.
@edwardknight65284 жыл бұрын
@@agliem1 Yeah i'm in the process of getting this for myself though on a much older tractor. I"m having a hard time finding any info on the loader specifications so trying to keep the weight down on all that i'm adding. Thanks for the info. Ed

How do you like your Piranha cutting edge? I'm considering one instead of a dedicated tooth bucket. Does it dig well?
@agliem17 жыл бұрын
Mark Decamps my opinion is that it works well. I think it s good addition because it give you a wear point on the bucket.
