Awesome work! When I bought my BX23S the guy that dropped it off, when I asked him about overworking it, he simply said, "You'll break before this tractor does." That was 4 years ago and he was absolutely right. Love my little BX monster. BTW (I know this post is old but for anyone wondering if they can do it), your BX CAN handle that large stump. Cut all the roots off down to about 24" with the backhoe and break it lose from any clay with a winch. Use to upper 3 feet of that stump to pull it over and flip it. Use the Backhoe to knock all of the dirt off the root ball. Cut the top 3 feet off with your chainsaw, and pull her outta there. Then you can push it wherever you want it to go. I've done it several times now with my BX. Just gotta trim the weight of the stump with each gain. Eventually, the BX can move it.

Dang im glad your Kubota can handle a rock that size. I just paid the deposit on the same machine sign the final paperwork tomorrow then get my machine delivered this Friday. I know ive got a good sized rock or two in my garden but after starting to dig it up with a spade and seeing the size it was growing into i just put the dirt back and left it in place lol. Now your video makes me believe I can finally dig those rocks out and get rid of them once and for all. Im just praying they are not nearly the size of the boulder you dug out lol. Great video, you did an awesome job getting that rock out. I can't wait to see more of your updates. 😊

Thanks Curt, awesome comment. Thank you very much. You are going to love your machine, maintain her and she will treat you right. Be sure to watch the messily videos on the BX23s from like 3-4 years ago, especially the ones on maintenance.

Excellent excavating !!! The only technique I would have done differently is at time stamp 18:45 I would have filled in the hole so the rock couldn't have fallen back in. Simple, but effective. I commented on another comment here on same post how we use this "filling in" technique to remove tanks in the ground. I think the Egyptians used it way back when. It's also kind of an OHSA thing with filling in holes so people can't fall in them. And I know you did fill it in, but on some job sites they get picky with unused holes not immediately filled in. Insurance regs. By the way, I have 5 hours on my Kubota BX23S, but tons of hours digging tanks, stumps, rocks, out of the ground with and without machinery. I came here to learn how you guys use your loader. Great job !!!

@@LukyNumbrKevin I would have used tow straps also, but not on the Kubota (23hp). Attach to your truck (200hp) , let the horsepower win in this situation. I know you wanted to win and you did. But your truck is more powerful in "towing". Rocks included. You dug it out fine ( excellent excavator and operator ). The only technique I would have done differently is at time stamp 18:45, I would filled in the hole so the rock couldn't have rolled back in. I cringed at time stamp 19:15, when your machine moved toward the rock praying you didn't accidentally knock it back in. That technique of filling it back in is how we remove tanks that are in the ground without heavy machinery. We dig all around the side of the tank. We then put a strap or chain around the end and hook to an engine lift. We raise the one end up 6 - 12 inches. We then fill in under the tank. We then lower it to rest on the filled dirt then go to the other side and raise it 6 - 12 inches and then the same fill in under that side with dirt and lower it the same. Then start over with the other end. We keep doing this back and forth until it reaches the surface. This is done in places where you can't get machinery in. Works every time, but takes time. Nice job with the rock. Kubota KX23S wins again.

have you raised your hydraulic pressure on the BX? This is seriously impressive if it's all stock.
@LukyNumbrKevin Жыл бұрын
I believe I am around 2100 psi but I would have to confirm. I shimmed her about 2-3 years ago. So to you I say GREAT EYE, you were the first to notice. But to be honest it is hard to tell the difference between shimmed and stock hydraulic pressure.

@LukyNumbrKevin3 жыл бұрын
As long as you have the tabs on your dipper to install the stock thumb I would go Stock. it is such a clearing install with better geometry and less chance for failiure. But I have no experience with the Barracuda only the stock Kubota Thumb that I bought with the tractor.

Important information check your front axle oil level they are notorious for being bone dry check the little yellow dipstick on top of the axel look down inside or see if it's marking on the dipstick I'm not sure if they come from the tractor store like that. I wish I would have caught mine sooner I didn't have no problems or anything but still risky I caught mine at 100 hours and it was almost bone dry.
@thethiefonthecross90923 жыл бұрын
You could top it off with a UDT hydraulic transmission oil they recommend you put it in the front axle as well

For the price that tractor is a waist of money. This tractor should cost 16,000 brand new. 12,000 used. I rather save up some more money and buy a heavier backhoe. Thanks a bunch for this video. You really put it to the test.

I've priced all the models from bx and up. Including all the J Deer models. Im ex concstruction operator and Im impressed with the back hoe strenngth for that size boulder. My problem is not money but that I need a small narrow unit with power. I was quoted 23,475.00 inc all taxes and fees with backhoe, loader and box scraper. Good video to use as a guide.

From Australia (cost well over $30k), where the quick attach does not seem to be available and BX23s (got 400hrs up) comes standard with a 4 in 1 pinned bucket which is great but sometimes wish I could use a grapple. Also finding it a little underpowered especially when it comes to loader lift capacity. Also can be quite unstable when carrying heavy loads due to its light weight, (nearly tipped sideways countless times and that's on relatively level ground) but probably expecting too much. Backhoe is awesome, it'll dig anything out of the ground even electric power cables, lol. Thanks for the vid.
