Good thing about the "kubota-system" is they have strong&well mounted loaders & back-hoes with very week (low-flow)hydraulics. Those stumps just take a lot of nibbling from many angles & a lot of dirt removal. Thanks Cody for the vidio &happy safe Tractoring.

Go on the back side you have a root on the back side..

Just need to move away from the stump until it digs easily and slowly work your way towards the stump, severing the smaller roots as you go. Also, never use side pressure using your hoe. Good way to bend or break something. I think this stump came out quite easily. If you really want to do it fast, an excavator is quick!

After watching you back fill the hole a am so glad I went with the Manual Trans on my 2501 , I personally just hate the hydro whine and having to rev the engine to make it perform. To each his own. Good quality video though

I have used a tractor backhoe to dig up a four foot cedar stump, all this nonsense about limits etc. has me shaking my head. You have to start out about four feet away and rip up all the roots all the way around. The best method is to dig up the tree with the trunk still attached or a 10 foot section at any rate. Try doing a few with a pick and shovel and then go back to using the tractor backhoe and you will have a different outlook.

I was going to say something very similar. But it depends on the type of tree and how rotten it is. I thought he started too close to the tree, but he got lucky. He should also knock a lot of the dirt off of the stump and put it back in the hole.

Patience and technique. I dig out two huge maple stumps with my L2501/BH77 and couldn’t be happier with my machine. Both trees were over 30” across the butts and I had to block and tackle the stumps out of the holes because they clearly outweighed my machine. Once out of the holes I couldn’t lift one side with FEL but I could spin them with the BH. I did break a BH pin but it must have been a defective pin 😂

I have the exact same set up except the thumb. If I were to do it again, I prob would not buy the BH77 or any tractor attached backhoe. I have pulled up stumps much bigger than the one in the video with the BH77 but it is slow and underpowered in this case. I ended up getting a decent deal on a CAT 304c and it will rip a stump out of the ground real quick. I elected to keep the BH77 because when we work on our rentals, the tractor does less damage to the turf compared to the tracks on a mini-x. The Cat stays on the homestead (for now). This is just my opinion and you results and situation may differ.

Everything has a limit, you just have to know your machine. I have dug bigger stumps out with a BX23s.

I was thinking about buying a BH77 for my L3901. Watching videos on it tonight. But after watching this video and the trouble it had with the stump, I may need to reconsider it. That's not that big of a stump where I live.

I agree! A mini X would be a better investment, BH77 is 8500$, for a little more you can own a mini X

@@CarolinaEarthWerx it depends on first off your towing situation a tiny min ex only having 15 hp isn’t going to outperform a 30hp backhoe it just isn’t and plus if you don’t use it to make a living 15k+ is a lot of money to spend on a single machine that you only use for one purpose and most importantly is weight most mini ex weigh in at around 6-10 thousand pounds and for alot of people it isn’t practical to tow almost anywhere when a 30hp backhoe weighs around 4500 pounds give or take 500 pounds and you were way to close to that stump with the bucket back off the stump about 2 feet and go around it and It’ll pop right out how much do you use the mechanical thumb? Is it worth the arm and leg that most dealers want for one?

It’d be interesting to know exactly how long it took to dig this thing up. I’ve got about 230 of stumps half this size but I may just rent a stump grinder instead of paying for a 11,000 back how attachment.

Rent a mini X. It’ll save you a lot of time.

I bought that Backhoe this week. I had 18 large trees cut down on my property so I have 18 large stumps to remove. I have a feeling I will need a chainsaw for som of the roots once I expose them.
@CarolinaEarthWerx Жыл бұрын
Yeah, should be a fun task though. Until you get to the 18 the one 🤣

Can this backhoe pull up bamboo roots?

Was thinking that after digging around it, you could have got to it with a chainsaw, below ground level, and just put the soil back

too much dirt and would mess up or dull a chain quick. sure you can sharpen it for 20-30 minutes, but do that a handful of times and you'll need a new one. also the wood at stump is damp, harder, and more difficult to cut...the wood fibers are all twisted and it warps as you cut and pinches. end up with a dull chain and lots of heat/smoke that melts the paint off the bar. don't ask me how i know...

You talked about one of your previous videos how the Kubota moves around a lot when you’re using the backhoe one of the reason for this is you gotta get all of the wheels off the ground so use your front bucket lift up the entire front end tires and then put down your rear supports of the backhoe to lift the rear tires off the ground and your Kubota won’t move around nearly as much, so basically lifting all four tires off the ground you use it
