People who change the gear oil that way learn it from outboard boat motors. You have to fill from the bottom, and they even make a silly little pump for it. But when its full you have to quickly put the plug back in while its coming out. I wish those boat motors had 3 holes, but they only have two. So, that's where it comes from!
