I have been researching Kubrick and his films for years. The rabbit hole goes deeper and deeper. Kubrick makes even the most genius person humble. Eyes Wide Shut is his most complex film, or there are layers that Kubrick has used in certain level before, but now those are on another level here. Researching Kubrick changed my life, and the one advice I would give to others is that no matter how crazy or impossible theories sound, take them seriously and look at the evidence. There are usually huge amount of details that prove or disprove correct/false theories. The amount of clearly false theories is staggeringly low, but many theories are just part of the whole.

Kubrick is just a psyop within a psyop, within a psyop...If your blessed by the mainstream, you are on the team. Name one uber famous person that isn't on the team, just one. Love your work bro but your being sucked in on Kubrick... As far as I can tell, Stanley is doing his part for the requirement that "they" must give revelation of method and he does it well...

@@KatyWantsToGo I did assume the same as you do, and he certainly was part of them at least in some point. But I do think he had his mission against them as well. If you were one of the most talented and genius people who ever lived, you would want power, thus that gets you in the group. But you would also find out that you are essentially just a slave for the true leaders, and that the ideology leads to nothing good. It's hard to explain, but I think he was both part of them and against them. At least his films have helped to open my eyes and develop kind of shining, which have helped to see through all sorts of hidden things.

Excellent analysis. A few things that come to mind: 1) "Helena" is Greek for "torch; shining light; beautiful, bright light." There seems to be Luciferic/Sophianic connotations there. 2) The Clive Barker movie "Midnight Meat Train" also takes place in NYC. The story revolves around an ancient secret society covertly controlling the city on behalf of demonic overlords that live below the surface there. The symbol of the secret society is an eight-pointed star. The very same eight-pointed stars are seen all throughout "Eyes Wide Shut." 3) The name "Ziegler" is of Germanic origin and means "bricklayer" i.e. a Mason. 4) If my memory serves me correctly, I recall a well known researcher, it might of been Jay Weidner, who mentioned that he had discovered an old article/interview with Kubrick admitting that the Bill and Alice characters were partly based on him and Christiane. I remember searching for the old article and finding it. I recall archiving the article for future reference. This was quite some time ago.

Finally someone mentioned that Kubrick’s filmography needs to be seen as a whole! I’m so frustrated with people talking about how Stephen King didn’t like Kubrick’s “The Shinning” and therefor it’s a bad movie or people saying “I didn’t like ‘Eyes Wide Shut’” Ugh! 🤦🏻‍♀️

This is a very good analysis of some aspects of the movie; you came up with some really interesting stuff Howdie! Alice running away once Bill wants to say hello to Nightingale... that is revealing. I love all the information this gentleman put out there! Very well thought out. I think that one of the biggest ideas hidden in the movie is that the "illuminated" upper class views themselves as a different species of humans - using sort of form of mind control to keep the "everyday person" in the dark. While at the same time they are doing things out in the open - Christmas - allegedly christian holiday celebrating the God - yet to them it's a joke because it has a completely different meaning to them. First the time of the year - winter solstice, anyone?Erected Christmas trees - phallic symbolism right there linked to fertility, also shaped as a pyramid - there are many different shapes of trees out there! Why was this sort of tree chosen? And what's going on at the party at Somerset looks like a giant orgy that celebrates fertility, sex, etc - the lowest human instincts to reproduce. As if the movie is telling us we are telling all these everyday people this fairy tale about the God to keep them in line to live their miserable average everyday life with the promise of better after life. In the meantime - we the elites, know that this life is all we have and we want to enjoy ourselves and indulge in all the earthly pleasure imaginable to us. In a sense - the morality is for common people, but we are the Gods and no rules apply to us. From the ancient times - kings viewed themselves as chosen by the Gods to rule over the common men and never worked single day in their life. And the people at the Somerset house must have believed that they are the rulers of today's world just like ancient pharaoh or king. Victor hints at it when he tells Bill - if I told you some of the names there, you would be astonished! Also the motive of money - something that Bill is focused on like rest of the common people - means nothing to the upper class which merely views is as a method of control and power but in a way it's just a magic trick that they are pulling on people. Because they are the ones controlling it - again from the ancient times - gold and silver coins had faces of rulers on them - symbolically telling you hidden in plain sight who is in charge.

A good movie to do an analysis is a movie from 1982 called "The secret of Nimh". Nimh is an old Irish word meaning the power of semen to give life. The cartoon is just filled with occult imagery. There's a cat with one eye = one reptilian eye looking at a crow (voice by Dom Deluise). There are rats under a rose bush (rosicrucianism) arguing on what looks like a masonic floor. There is a mouse that seeks advice from an old owl with golden (illuminated) eyes. Most do film!!!

Since you mentioned Donnie Darko, notice in the scene near the end where Bill breaks down and cries on the bed, the sleeve of his white shirt is crumpled to look like a rabbit mask. I agree Nick Nightingale is playing the part of the white rabbit from Wonderland, so I don't know why Bill is associated with a rabbit mask at the end. Also, the pirate hat on the guy at that party who nods hello from the balcony can be matched to the first appearance of the Dodo who wears a three corner hat in Disney's old cartoon of Alice in Wonderland. And the party guy's second appearance at the party will match the Dodo's second scene in the cartoon, if you let them both play out. Bill is also the name of the Lizard in Alice in Wonderland, a lowly character who gets ordered around by the Dodo.

I've watched this movie countless times and always pick up on something new, and I even learned new things from your short analysis video as well. There is SO much to Eyes Wide Shut, and all of Kubrick's work. LOST is probably my favorite television show of all time because of how deep the symbology and esoteric meaning goes. I've been wanting to do an analysis of that myself, but I've never gotten around to doing it, so I really look forward to yours. I don't know who Kubrick was, but I feel Lolita was made to please the power elite who like the idea of having sex with underage girls at "Camp Climax". What is interesting is that Quilty is a TV script writer or play writer, and James Mason is college professor. And they are both having sex with Lolita. So, that kind of smears those two professions, just as a movie about priests molesting children would smear that profession. But Kubrick doesn't seem to indict his abusive characters, the way way a typical Hollywood director would indict a priest character.

Can you do an analysis on Bone Tomahawk? I've scoured the internet and nobody even mentions all the Gnostic and saturn/moon soultrap matrixy symbolism and more that is present in the film. Critics called it boring just like most movies that are actually telling you something. For example, the town they start in is called Bright Hope. Many of the characters' experiences seem to be designed to make them hopeless. There is also a strange rock circle that seems to depict saturn, the moon and this "planet" however you choose to imagine our realm. Then, there is the cave and prisoners, i don't think i need to go into detail there. One of the characters "john brooder" seems to be a gnostic. He rejects all worldly things as evil and before his horse dies he says "thank you for your service as a horse." There's a lot of symbolism in the characters. Brooder is unmarried, he's the only character dressed fully in white with a white horse and he helps even though he is not involved in any way or expected to help. The other characters are very worldly and take the world as it is presented to them. Brooder rejects religious ideas and points out very plainly the insanity in them. He is also prepared to die and also intends to meet death without fear or regret as much as he can. Anyway, i don't know if i made a good enough example or even remembered enough to poibt out but i hope this encpurages you to do an analysis because you did a really good job on your other ones.

Nobody ever comments on the brown or black haired women in the film. None of them seem interested in Bill. Anyway, I don't know why people say all the women in the movie are the same. Alice is a dyed red head Barbie Doll. Marion is a blonde, completely different type. The underage girl is blondish, so is Domino, to my eyes. Some shots their hair looks darker, some a little reddish. They don't look like Barbie Dolls, either. Mandy, I guess you could count her as similar to Alice is statuesque looks, however, she doesn't have an "Alice" vibe. Sally does have a somewhat Alice vibe - I think Sally WAS cast to suggest "could be Alice's kid sister". The main attraction of the other females is, they are younger than Alice, bar Marion. They don't look as good as Alice.

It would probably be taken down by YT for copyright infringement. They're getting super strict with that stuff. I agree that more visuals would be great but I'm not sure that's possible. Maybe he could have used more still images though.

Ha, I almost replied to a comment here about what does the coat Alice wears at the end mean (it could mean police detective, reporter, soldier in most cases. Somebody asking questions.) But I was going to say that I noticed Alice was wearing an outfit very similar to what Guy wore in Rosemary's Baby in one or two scenes. And Guy's role was to betray Rosemary into the hands of the coven of witches.

Do you have any idea what you are saying and why? The orgy scene is not at the end of the film. Most of your video covers parts of the film not in the first ten minutes. Do you have any conclusions? "The art is the filming itself" what do you mean?

Yeah I don't catch any 'here's why this matters' either. Like, this is what literature and cerebral films do - symbolism etc. I love Kubrick, I think his movies are sublime. It's fun to get caught up in the mastery of the craft of a Stanley Kubrick or a Thomas Pynchon, but it's even more extrinsically an intrinsically valuable to look at why something about it matters. The rest speaks for itself.

Oh please, Ager is delusional. His analysis of Eyes Wide Shut is so beyond "seeing details that aren't there" ridiculous that I had a good chuckle. The guy's never read Frued nor Arthur Schnitzler's novella, which "Ews" is an adaptation of. I've briefly spoken to Kubrick's step daughter Katharina before in the comments of one of her videos, and she agreed that Ager and many others have totally misunderstood what her father was concerned with subject wise in making Eyes Wide Shut, which was sex, dreams and fear and tribute to Viennese literature and early 20th century Psychoanalysis which Kubrick enjoyed reading. But hey, paranoid conspiracies seem to be ripe on the internet, that's why we have QAnon and CNN's Russiagate.

It's one thing to pick out every detail in a movie, and it's another to interpret what the detail means or symbolizes. And, it's another to determine what exact meaning the director had in mind, and on what level did he mean it. As with Room 237, the documentary (which I love) different people can find different levels of meaning. So, a black rectangle can represent a movie screen, yes, I agree. But what does a movie screen represent? Truth or Deception? Also, what else could a black rectangle represent? A grave. There are probably some other meanings.

Respectfully - this KZbin-ish kind of take on great art is miseducating an entire generation on the language and function of great art, and how artists think and express themes and ideas. Identifying instances of symbolism, visual similie or mataphor IS NOT a crude and reliable can-opener to 'decode' art and tell you 'what's really going on'. There are a hundred examples in this video i'm afraid, and it's sad to see so many comments appartently thankful for having had something explained to them.
