I agree .The standard they set for leads are way too high specially female lead sanskari sundhar talented multitasking and what not . But the difference here is Dev inspite of being perfect had many flaws anger issues over possessiveness , prioritising one person over other, being silent in situations where he should have taken action ya stand, blaming others , destroying someone who comes between family , and not to forget thoda selfish hai apne family ko leke and keeps blaming others mistakes yet ignoring his and his families mistakes. Tho even if Dev was best he had a grey shade too . Even Sona is not portrayed as a typical ideal girl but a girl who has lot of good values and at the same time uske bi thode faults hai thodi se woh bi self centred thi cant blame her too her self respect matters too and to be frank Dixits didnt deserve such a good bahu jab unki kudh ki family members are rude and insecure .All characters are nice in the serial but they too had a weak and dark side. Even vamps were not completely evil they too had a good side GKB was greedy but kahi tho she wanted Ishwari children to be married off in a good family .and no matter kesa Vicky tha he did respect and love his wife stood against mom for her .And Ishwari is a good person but was extremely insecure of loosing her son but gradually she did improve realising her mistake which never happens in Indian dramas a vamp is always a vamp. These are the characters that we can witness in a day to day life a fun loving understanding family on contrary a complicated families ,A vamp maami a supporting uncle, people who cannot see others happiness even if its siblings , greedy relative's, relatives who only come to make scene, an insecure mother in law , a loving husband with flaws , understanding wife who complains and all are beautiful in their own way

It was grounded, a lot closer to reality, not repetitive and each character had room for development and some or the other arc going on for them which was not overblown out of proportion. I miss this originality. Second installment was alright. I am not even sure if its still airing. However, this one remains a classic.

If this was an ordinary daily soap, the makers would have muted the actor's dialogues, showed the actor miming in slow motion and played an unrealistic love theme as BGM.. But this show is a masterpiece and class apart! ♥️
