Kuching Best Foodie Haunts 砂拉越最正美食

Dear friends
After going around Malaysia hunting for food for three and half years I must say I’m running out of places to feature. I needed to go further and further away. Sadly, the returns for my efforts are not returning well. Admittedly, some of the destinations I travelled can’t even make enough to pay for themselves. I’m sure you noticed for this trip we needed to fly; this means I needed to spend more money than I should. However, I must say I really enjoyed the trip to Kuching, not only was the food good, the Sarawakian people are so warm and friendly. Let’s hope you will find this episode compelling like I spent the time working on it. Thanks, and see you in the next video

After watching this part 1 episode on Kuching - looks like Elmo need to quickly release part 2. Great and entertaining historical illustrations on Kuching especially on the origins where Kuching gets its name. Looks like Elmo ( and with Danny’s assistance) has already made me make up my mind to book the flight to Kuching soon to try the food there. I travel to Borneo 3-5 times a year, glad you enjoy the food there. One of my favourite place for laksa Sarawak which you can get even for dinner is at Premier Food Republic Rh Plaza, Mee Kolok at Sin Lian Shin is very good too. Dayak smokehouse at night is worth the visit as they serve vegetables like Midin,Changkuk manis etc that only can be eaten in Boneo.

I used to live in BTU during the 80's till early 90's. Coming fr Peninsula MY, we were surprised that the Malays don't mind if you eat pork dishes on a shared table. A lot of wonderful memories but I have a minor dislike for Ibans as they are generally more samseng-like compared to the others.

My last visit to Kuching could be more than fifteen years ago, if my memory serves me right. Clean and unpretentious, that's my impression of Kuching, and of course people are mostly cordial. Just out of curiosity, could mee Kolok a local transliteration of dry mee(干捞面)?

Sarawak is NOT the biggest state in Malaysia. It is a country by itself. Sarawak, Sabah and Malaya together form the country Malaysia. Pls get your info correct! This is an unfortunate mistake always commuted by West Malaysians.

And BB King Seafood is one of the most expensive in Kuching ..btw I am from KL and I come to Kuching a few times in a year for the past 14 years and each time I will stay here for more 2-3 weeks .. try to stay here for 90 days and do your review all over again ...but anyway it's acquired taste ...cheers Fyi I like to watch your video and I always use it as my guide when I am at the area where you have done the review ..thumbs 👍👍👍👍 from me esp the recommendations at Cameron

Never been to kuching b/4 ,hear the flight fr k.l to k.k expensive,with yr food adventure there can give it a try,thks again.but hear k.l is still better then there.but would love to visit the dayak/iban communities if ever i get the chance.

You can hunt for cheap air fare during off peak seasons . Just don't go during school holidays and festive season. I always go back to visit my daughter during her school days, not during school holidays. Off peak seasons air fare can set you back for just RM 180 -200 returns and RM 400 -600 durian festives and school holidays. Next week Tues I will go back again for 14 days to visit my daughter. My ticket is only RM 190 return
