It is also the fastest Shinkansen between Tokyo and Hakata.

Loved this video - it brought back memories of a lovely time in Japan. We stayed in Nagoya (in the Marriott) and having the station (and the Shinkansen lines) in the hotel "basement" was amazing. @@cindycarr3460 most Australians have never seen a big dangerous spider like a Funnelweb. The only one most people will have seen is the Redback, which is very closely related to the American Black Widow. However, unless you plan to spend your time in back yard sheds instead of hotels, you're unlikely to see one. When hiking in America, I was worried about bears, but we never saw one. Lovely “Christmas Card”, Kuga-san 😁🎄! Y’know, one thing surprised me: I had thought that the overhead lights might be dimmed on a night trip (although it’s a good thing for a videographer they don’t do that 🙂). I’m with you: I like either day or night travel 🙂, although that brings up another issue. I can’t decide whether I like the shinkansens better (because they are one of the most amazing things ever devised by the hand of man), or the more leisurely and more luxuriously appointed sleeper trains 🥰! I keep having this weird idea: Combine the Odoriko with the Sunrise Express … and make it a shinkansen! That would be the “ultimate JR train”, no? 😁❤️

Unless I wake up in the morning, I don't like to travel when it is dark. Many years ago, travelling by train in Europe was fun, even at night. Trains were slower, permitting trips that lasted all night. The 6-person cabins on long trips were mostly empty so that seats opposite each other could be pulled out to make a bed at no extra cost; also, there existed extensive night trains where the price per bed was less than hotel costs. When travelling via the Eurail ticket, nothing beat this way of travelling. Nowadays, the fun has gone out of train travel. It's all about getting there quickly and not about enjoying the journey.

@Kuro_kaz
@Kuro_kaz 3 жыл бұрын
"Shin" refers to "new" in Japan, so it literally means "New Osaka", but it also refers to the "Shin"kansen. A lot of station names have "Shin" in it (like Shin-Kobe in the video) since some Shinkansen routes can't pass through older stations usually due to infrastructure difficulties, so "Shin" stations were built to accommodate the Shinkansen.
