I really like the technical performance driven design, This year I'll be running the new icon pro 5200, I think its great that Mr.Hairston shared all his experience and knowledge and is gettin into two areas of hunting that can really be improved upon food, and tripods and he is running the best for both worlds as a hunting videographer a light manfrotto tripod and light manfrotto fluid head, I use for filming and glassing! can hardly wait to see what he can engineer!

I might mention that for Alaska (on a Sitka Blacktail deer hunt), I would recommend dry bags for the meat inside or outside of the pack - as brown bears really like deer blood. If you don't have one circling you on that hunt, they may be wandering around you/your camp on the following hunt(s) if you don't get that blood smell out of the pack. I use a pair (doubled for no leaks) of Kuiu XXL Roll-top dry bags around my meat bag and a M or L Roll-top for the cape (or save weight and roll it into your Kuiu pack cover inside the pack in a pinch. What size roll-top was the first gentleman’s clothes in? I’m guessing a large? How about sleeping bag - was it a kuiu bag - and what temp? Liked the size it packed down to. Thanks for doing this video.

Hey Jim thanks for watching. Yes my clothes were in a Large Roll Top Dry Bag with quite a bit of extra space if needed. In the demo I had a 30 Degree bag KUIU Bag.

Thanks, the reason I ask is they look similar to a pair I'm considering from the "competition"...but if Kuiu had something that fit the bill I would definitely go that way. I know you guys are primarily focused on "big game mountain hunting" but it sure would be nice to see some water fowling and fishing oriented pieces and gear...would be nice to stay with the one brand I know and trust...just a thought, I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks this way...cheers and thanks for the reply!

All our gear works great for waterfowl, we have been using it for duck hunting all over California for years with great success. For fishing I don't see why any of the solid color gear would work either.

Hey Pat thanks for watching. We are both still using the recently discontinued ULTRA NX Rain Gear. There is still some available on the website, so if you are interested in a really good light weight set I would jump on it ASAP.

Ben Britton good to know and thanks for the reaponse. I just picked up the chugach jacket...actually arrived yeaterday. Might still keep my Teton pants since new. Awesome video, these types of videos really hell many people. I would like to see more output on kuius end with more live feeds sucks as this one. But headed in the right direction.

Really bummed they won’t honor previous dollars spent on their new rewards program. Also bummed they now have an extra tall frame. I have one of the original icon pro 3200 in the “tall” frame which is the largest they had. I’m 6’4” and couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t as comfortable as everyone said they are. Well after watching this I now know why. Bummed mine doesn’t have a port for the water hose to come out like the news one do either. Bummed that my only options are basically to buy a entire new pack.

That's how pretty much everything in the world works... until time machines are made, that's how it will remain. Businesses would go out of business if they gave free upgrades to all previous customers.

Hey Anthony--call up our customer service team. The new frames are compatible with older packs, so we can certainly get you into a frame that fits your body better.

KUIU Ultralight Hunting I did right before I posted this comment and the lady I talked to said there was nothing I could do other than buy an entirely new pack because my pack is one of the originals. I then asked her if I could just buy a frame because my belt and everything else fit and if I did would the bag still fit and she said I had to buy all new everything. If this is not the case please let me know. Thanks!

If it's an Icon Pro 3200, the current frames will fit it, no question. You'll have some work to do to swap straps, but it's compatible. Now, if it's an ICON 3000, that pack (and any of the original ICON series) is not compatible. But any Icon Pro pack or ULTRA pack can use the new frame.

at 18:50 it's very interesting that one of the main selling points of the kuiu modular system, (load sling) these guys actually prefer to carry meat inside the pack. This makes the ability to carry the meat outside the pack come across as a gimmick.

I like the informative vids and own kuiu cloths but what was said about why the kuiu packs are not waterproof and the reasons behind it is disappointing. I own a just one pack from eberlstock and the pack is unbelievably tough having been through multiple AZ trips packing out whole javelina through cactus infested canyons.The pack is made of waterproof material and zippers. It is not heavy at all. I would like to see kuiu construct a waterproof pack as well since there is a demand for a product like this.just saying.
