This is a project that I completed at Northcentral Technical College during my final semester of the Electromechanical Program. Everything you see other than the robot was built for the project, all of the dispensers, robot head, and mini pallets. The system uses an Allen Bradley slk 500 Plc interfaced with the robot to handle all of the dispenser logic. during the process a DVT 630 inspection camera is used to make sure the jars are ready to be taken, if at any point the jars fail to cycle the plc will attempt to fix the problem by running the conveyor again. If it fails the program is stopped and the operator is notified. If at any point the boxes fail to fall this also shuts the program down and notifies the operator.

Your exactly right, I look back now and wish I would have done so many things differently. If I had more time I would have made those movements better, but I was racing to get it done before semester end. As far as the continuous path option half of the movements where using it, I am far from an expert on this thing. I couldn't figure out why the continuous was not working out like I had thought it would. Thanks for the response good to hear from someone who knows there stuff.

I operate Fanuc robots where I work, and I'm fascinated by other robot manufacturers. I want to learn the all. We also use a small number of motoman robots, but our department is primarily Fanuc.

ofc it was, but don't worry that would eventually happen, wouldn't really look like this though. Not though that these machines can move much faster than they do in this video. It's just that something might break if they do.

All a question of sensors and programming. This particular application could be vastly improoved and sped up and overall made more efficient. It´s just pretty badly programmed.

People laugh at the speed. But, they dont realize it doesn't need days off, breaks, lunches, or vacation. Also, it doesn't call in sick or off.

sticksofury I see your point but I don't agree with your point of view, if you where right then we should destroy everything post industrial era so people can replace current machinery and work 12+ hours a day for a misery. Someday humans will be free from the chains of stupid repetitive jobs that robots and machines can do perfectly, we should dedicate our time in this planet to create and enjoy life not to break our backs.

The mechanics are nicely done and the video ist well edited. But why didn't you use the continous path option for your movements? Also, most of your robot movements are unnecessary, especially those of axis 4! For example the movement through an alpha-5 singularity at 0:37, it hurts my eyes.

Pedro would be finished by the time this robot set down the second box. Tyrone would have 3 of Pedro's pallets loaded on a truck before this robot finished one. ;)

Vision sistem only to pick up the jars ? Did you use it because you wanted to have an extra on your assignment or because you really needed it ? In my opinion a mechanical system ensuring they are always at the same position works like a charm :D

+Marcos Moura It was mostly just to add it to the project, by no means was it necessary since I could have used the vacuum switches that were already installed in the end effector.

Hey, thanks for your reply! I'm glad you didn't see my comment as offense :) I experienced that lack of time and those things are often far away from being perfect. Anyhow, i guess you are done with your project and got your Degree? Do you ever considered doing a Kuka-programming-course? It's sure expensive, but they provide you with all the tricks you'd never learn alone from a book!

I have thought about it, I am also thinking about getting a four year degree in something like automation engineering. I got a two year degree and now I am wishing I would have done more. any suggestions? more school or just a bunch of private classes from companies like Kuka, Fanuc, and Rockwell?. Now that I have a full time job and I live in a small town, going to school would take some major changes, it's hard to know if it's worth it. But I also don't want to waste my life not doing anything

This must be a versatility tech demo, as the set up is ridiculous in an industrial setting. Also the jars are empty.

Yeah, but you want 2000 euros and you work 8 hours per day and want paid leave, etc. The robot can wor 24 hours per day, every day, no leave, no pay, except for electricity.
