Kukeri in Razlog, Bulgaria

Bells and drums, zurnas and tambourines awaken Razlog on January 17 and 18, 2025. Chaushi, Kukeri, Djamali, Babugeri, and Stanchinari take over the city, transforming it into the stage of the 9th International Kukeri Festival, "Starchevata."
Kukeri groups from across Bulgaria and carnival groups from North Macedonia, Serbia, and Greece will showcase their unique costumes and perform dances and rituals to drive away evil spirits. Among the guests in Razlog will be carnival groups such as "Moulin Rouge" and "Struma" from North Macedonia, "Patra" from Greece, "Rakovichki Lyude" from Serbia, and captivating local groups from Tundzha, Yambol, Blagoevgrad, Simitli, Karlovo, Pavel Banya, Elin Pelin, Zemen, Pernik, Kyustendil, Petrich, Razlog, and more.
