It’s funny that people say encore is better, but to my knowledge they didn’t change anything to make it sound better. It’s basically the same, only battery life is longer and the lightshow plus you get one or two microphones. But the sound/bass is the same.

My Encore is pulling double duty. I use it on its own when I need a portable speaker, but at home it acts as my "subwoofer" in my stereo chain. I turn the mids and treble all the way down in the app, and it's legit in that role. The sub frequency on the encore reaches down much lower than the mid-woofer on my Swans M10 Plus. Sounds so dang good and clean.

@@enzod.coimbra1466 I have my Swans m10 Plus connected to my SMSL SH-6 headphone amp's preout via RCA. That SH-6 is connected to my SMSL DO100 DAC also by RCA. The Encore is connected to my SMSL HO100 headphone amp via 3.5 mm cable into the headphone port of the headphone amp. That HO100 is also connected to the DO100 DAC, but via XLR. The DO100 allows both headphone amps to output sound at the same time (XLR + RCA outputs) from the same source. As a bonus, my Encore is actually connected to another entirely separate stereo setup at the same time, as I have a Y-Splitter plugged into the Encore to accept two 3.5 mm aux cables from two different sources. That other stereo setup is the Edifier MR4 connected to an old FX-Audio DAC-X6MKII via RCA and that second 3.5 mm aux cable coming out from the MR4's aux port going to the Encore's Y-splitter. If you're wondering "why", it's because the M10 Plus system is my main PC, and the MR4 setup is for my ROG Ally when I want to dock it to my secondary monitor and speakers so that sound and functionality between my pc and Ally are separate, but share the Encore as sub, since I won't ever need it used by both setups at the same time. The great thing is that I don't have to switch any cables around. It's quite an elegant setup and is super convenient, as I have so many options for connectivity. If I want to connect any of my headphones to the SMSL chain at any time, I just unplug either the 3.5 mm cable on my SH-6's headphone jack that leads to yet another speaker that I didn't mention above (Edifier D12), or unplug the 3.5 mm cable from my HO100's headphone port that leads to my Encore. And the FX-Audio setup already has an unused headphone port, since that DAC has both an RCA output that my MR4 is connected to, and a separate headphone jack. I hope all that made sense!

main encore uses abit more watts on average than essential (which explain it being louder by abit, the difference is mostly in the feelings,essential version has cheaper amp than the plain encore with 2 mics, plain encore sounds abit better and abit more powerful which can be heard and feel in person. when I checked the amps (main motherboard) of the 2 versions, encore boast more high quality amp and capacitors plus higher capacity battery, still if you got essential dont feel bad it still sounds better than most bluetooth speakers. watts is not everything Sony can can have more watts but they sound like crap and boxy.

Could this difference in amps and sound quality be due to the encore's larger battery? Because both speakers in the video are playing on battery, so maybe the bigger battery gives better amps and better quality. Or do you think it's due to better quality materials?

The volume levels in second test are not kept same accidentally. Check and compare 6:07 and 8:07. Even though essential is keeping up. Reason of difference is just speculation. Rather check with each earphone out one by one, the difference comes out to be very minute. Only difference is mic, battery and lights imo. And main outcome depends on placement of the speaker in the room.

Encore comes with bad mics. Sold out everywhere. I would bet they are going to replace/upgrade that base unit soon with their brand new party mics that just came out. Got the Essential today from Abenson for only P8,499 ($151.16), which was a solid steal! I preferred this one over the Encore (tested the Encore demo unit for over 30min). Compared to the Essential, Encore has that hard bass thumping thing all thru out the listening experience (bass on/off and even in the lowest volume level), nakakaumay as they say. Which in my opinion it drowns out the warmth of the vocals. This where the Essential shines thru. It provides you the right amount of bass or even better when bass options turned on (*No EQ used for both models). Another closer observation the Bass 1 (adds enough bass strength) and the Bass 2 (Gives at least 15% more bass and loudness). FYI sound source may often vary from the TYPE/BRAND/GADGET/EQ you use. Tweak it til you hit that sweet spot. Happy listening every Juan!

Its possible but not directly, you can look for a sound card in case your encore's mic stops working. Connect the soundcard to the encore's aux

There is a slight difference in the way sound. Encore sounds broader. Bass hits deeper just a bit and sounds a little more power thou they both 100w.

idk sounds the same, maybe the essential have better battery, updated lighting and + mics that what makes he cost higher. I got standard without mics, and its amazing. Just place its some here corner, 90 degree place or decent enough with exit hole where sounds comes out its good and bassy :)

@@walther89 The essential doesn't cost more than the Encore. There is/was clearly a 100 dollar difference between the two speakers. The first started at $299 while the second one started at $399. The math is clear..... From what I hear with no bias between the two. Is that the Encore has the much better battery life. Yeah, The Mic input goes in favor of the Essential. I don't know about the light differences between the two. But the price costing more, and from what many say, the battery life is far better on the Encore.

They're two different models. One slightly better sounding than the other.

@@KULASTECHSHOW20 I actually was checking a tear down of both speakers and of course Encore has some bigger electronic plates because of microphones and LEDs, but other than that power converter and speakers are the same. Even the battery looks the same, I was surprised of how small it is like a small powerbank. It seems to me that when both connected by cable they may sound exactly the same, the battery of the essential makes that small difference.

Essential мне нравиться больше, особенно для дома, и особенно для фильмов. 2шт в стерео режиме. До этого были encore, поменял их на essential.
