Goddess Kali origin starts with goddess Kotravai , is the goddess of war and victory in the Tamil traditions . She is the mother of Seyon which is Murugan - god of war, and the wife of Shiva. She is also the mother goddess and the goddess of fertility, agriculture and hunters. The goddess Kotravai is not a goddess of Vedic. This goddess has been mention in ancient Tamil literature 'Toolkapiyam'.

In vedic, nature is given importance. There is a myth that shiva, vishnu etc have been devised by Aryans. But that's not true. Vishnu as well as shiva are all Tamil deities only. The aim differs. Vishnu and Shiva are cosmological phenomenon that's why they don't have much followers or paramparas. Ie they don't have much of lineage based followers.

The closest God to Vishnu is Mayon. Mayon refer to the ancient God of Thirupathi Thirumaal. As Seyon also Murugan upgraded to Subramanian likewise Mayon also Thirumaal upgraded to Vishnu. Shiva has been in Tamil civilization for many thousand years and also mentioned in Toolkapiyam. I'm not against the Brahmins or Hinduism. We have evolved together. Pls don't down grade Tamil in any form.

"Kuladeivam" worship decline is due to religion conversion. Those converts "attack" this practice. On another side, the educated attacks the practice as superstition. Constant attacks on Tamil worship tradition have brought this decline. Tamils who sees the benefit of such practices should continue doing it despite criticism. Fight back with a SMIRK!

Urbanization! Migration to cities with (apartment and AC office lifestyle)! It is not a problem of conversion. Christian, Muslim or Hindu don't matter. Nowadays, no youngster gives importance to their own traditions. Kuladeivam worship happens very well in interior villages. But, as modernization grows, this will eventually end. This is not the fate of only kuladeivam worship. This happens in all religions.

How about Tamil literature Toolkapiyan said Tamils original religion was Aseevagam. Tamil gods Sèeyon is Murugan and later stage after the arrival of aryans changed to Subramanian which is the child God who protects the Brahmins. Mayon is Thirumaal which has no connection to Bramins God Vishnu, Sivan which has no connection to Bramin God Rudra. Kotravai devi became all the female goddes now Hindus worship like Parvati, Kali, Durga, Prithinga devi and all bhagavathi devis all has the origin roots from Kotravai devi. Another deity worshipped by ancient Tamils was Muthadevi however Aryans don't like the practice of ancestral worship changed Muthadevi to Moodevi. Other goddes Tamil worshipped was Sri also know as Lakhsmy and Thirumagal. The Aryan slowly cunningly took over Tamil temples from then priest from parayars and kusavans community by putting a condition that is " Your God's and our rituals". This is how Tamil God Seeyon became Subramanian.

It's a fact and no one can deny the state of denial of Tamils. Our worship method "Padayal and not homam and Yagams which is fire worship of the Vedic period. All mantras was in Tamil and later copied and translated into Sanskrit language. A language without scripts of its own. Though latter stage devanagari script was adapted as many info and knowledge need to be copied from Tamil. So the real low class language is Sanskrit not Tamil . Jayendra Saraswathi of Kanchi madam said Tamil low class language where as Sanskrit God's language.

@@PremKumar-nk3db my friend Even in north, there are family deities which are no hing but kuladeivams. There is nothing Aryan or non Aryan here. Vishnu is vedic but what type of deity is he? He is a nature deity. Subramanian is also nature deity. Ancestor worship is not condemned in the Vedas.
