My family's Kuldevta is Khandoba. So the story revolves around when there were two Rakshas brothers named Mani and Mallah who had the boon from Brahma Dev through which they terrorised the Deccan plateau which is now the part of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Goa, Andra Pradesh and Telangana. So the then Rishis and Munis prayed to Mahadev and then Mahadev appeared(not born) in the form of Marthanda Bhairav aka Khandoba and slayed both Mani and Mallah. After that he stayed in Jejuri as king with his two wives who were Mhalsa aka Mata Parvati and Banubai aka Mata Ganga to conclude some prophecies which is again a beautiful love story.

My mom and dad had many medical and one dangerous accident over a long period of time, but this things had been pointed out many gurus over the decades (which they could possibly known) and many of them told the same thing that your family is being protected by your Kula Devta and Kula Devi, like a Guru's hand over your head. Also we are continously praying our Kula devata as its a very important thing here in our village Satara, Maharashtra. One thing even i noticed is that maybe you wont get your luxury wishes true, but Kula Devta and Devi will certainly here to protect us from all the bad things and negativity, which we might be needed the most. My family's Kula Devata is Jyotiba and Kula Devi is Aai Waghjai Devi and much more people have Khandoba as their Kula Devta

Khandoba is Martanda Bhairava. He is also called Malhari Martand, which comes from Mallari Martanda (Martanda, the enemy of Malla). Mani and Malla were two Asuras that Khandoba had slain. His name Khandoba comes from his weapon, Khanda (sword).

Thanks a lot for the episode. It's been 4_5 years that I have discovered my kuldevi and devta and am worshipping on daily basis. A lot of physical as well as mental changes have happened in my life post this. To add to this recently I have been drawn towards Kaal bhairav and have started worshipping bhairava also. Later on I have come to know that my kuldevi is a form of Mata Parvati and my Kuldeva is form of Shankar. The entire concepts and lot of connections are getting cleared due to this. Same as Ranveer. My ancestors are native kannadigas and shifted to Tamilnadu during the rule of Tipu Sultan who forced us to convert and to marry our community women. And during that period our ancestors brought our kudevi from Mysore to Coimbatore and built small temple started to worship her . Sanatanis have witnessed the peak of cruelty by the invaders .

Kuldeva is very specifically followed in Goa, Konkan, Full Maharashtra. Kuldeva is related to our Gotra. also. In Goa mostly all Kuldevas are of Devi Roopa and Shiva Roopa.

In Maharashtra mostly kuldevta is Shiv or his roop and Shakti and her roop. Like ours his Khandoba and Tujabhavani. Kalbhairava is our gram devta again Shiv roop. Revanta is son of sun. Both are different. Nandy must be brilliant but doesn't mean that he knows everything. Call someone who can actually put some light. Any deity can't be kuldevta. This 3 generation funda is stupid. And Ranveer it's खंडोबा not खानडोबा

There are Grama devatha and Kula devatha, both are different, panjurli is Gramadevtha for some and kula daiva for some, many villages have lord Hanuman as guardian, mother gangamma for providing water and mother maarikamba to protect from epidemics as grama devtha togather in many villages in southern India, the picture you are seeing is veerabadhra in Southern India called as karuppuswamy (Black god) Kaattavaraya( lord of the forest) as gramadevtha in villages.
