The opening lines really remind of King Osric in the Conan movie. The more Kull I read the more I realize how much Kull is really in that movie
@TheCybrarian3 жыл бұрын
yeah, oddly enough the villain for the conan movie, thulsa doom, is a Kull villain. but in the kull movie with kevin sorbo it has a conan villain, all weird.
@KyeEnzoden2 жыл бұрын
@@TheCybrarian think they did that on purpose? It is a shared universe, though thousands of years apart.
@TheCybrarian2 жыл бұрын
@@KyeEnzoden not sure, kull is just a conan precursor, but maybe the looked to thulsa doom as a REH sole villan (no lovecraft influences etc)

Awesome that you did this one. I re-read this one recently, and was thinking of doing my first ever reading to post on KZbin. There isn't a good audio reading of this. Well, there is now! Also, I might re-write this to include characters from a specific intellectual property. Maybe that will be my first reading. Thanks again for this one!

well there was a lot of Howards work unpublished til it was arranged and released after his death, different people arragnements or additions to work are interesting modern examples of how a story would grow through retelling or word of mouth in olde times :)

The way REH opens this tale with a description of depression though...now that rings a somber bell. ⚔

I commented on your last excellent kull video, suggesting another REH story "passing of the grey god" have a book with this story in but struggling to find it! But would be an excellent story for your style 👍🏻

Hmmm, we'll look into 'grey god passes'/'twlight of grey god' need to see if we have that or can get it. (our next RHE story is he lesser known 'The Lost Tribe')

The lost tribe? Is that a bran mak morn story?

@@judestevenson4943 @Jude Stevenson omg, so sorry, it's called 'The Lost Race' (it's bad enough some of his stories have multiple titles without me getting them wrong), it's a short in Bran Mak Morn setting/age

@@TheCybrarian thought it was! I've been looking through my REH books & lost race was the the nearest i could find😁 i think "the grey god passes" is also known as "spears over clontarf" but i may be wrong 👍🏻

@@TheCybrarian i read that story, its interesting. My favorite conan stories have so far been the Phoenix on the sword, the Tower of the elephant Queen of the black Coast Vale of lost women and red nails, im currently working on red nails and i enjoy it immensely.
