Ben Dover Hank Freeman would do more technical, smoother tricks, but good finding some time with him. He's Duncan's claim to 3a fame, and is always busy. Alex would be good, but Patrick Borderding would be better

There are giant versions of this with two sticks connected by a string. It's called a "Diabolo," or Chinese yoyo. I believe the one he's using here is just a smaller version of it with no sticks.

This is called a 4A yoyo there are many different types of yoyoing the one you see normally with string attached is called a 1A yoyo

Not really...For a 4A yoyo: you can actually throw it (at different angles too) and bind. Unlike Diablo: you regenerate it.

+no idea why - sunny In practical terms, a lot of the tricks that are possible, including many of the ones in the video are ones that came from diablo's. However, in terms of physics, the energy here comes from an initial spin. The energy in a diablo comes from you moving the string across it which is not possible with this kind of yoyo due to the unresponsive bearing. So similar in terms of tricks, different in terms of function.

This looks to be a type of Diablo. Although normally you have a stick on each end of the string. The lack of sticks is interesting. I like how he flung it like a top.

This is a Yoyo inspired by Diabolas but is actually called an Offstring yoyo

purplemutantas its a 4a yoyo. its somewhat like a diablo but its thrown like a yoyo (its attached to your hand and is thrown instead of using sticks) i would know, i do them both. but yeah he did throw it like a top, he threw it like a yoyo. there are a ton of people who do this style. its in the international yoyo competition. you should look it up

sorry if you didn't understand pal. the yoyo is separate from the string. the string isn't connected to the yoyo, but he is doing the tricks with string that initially is separate from the yoyo
