Wrong. He never gave that award to anyone, it was taken away from him. When Sanu received his 5th award, all he said was that Filmfare should consider another singer also. Filmfare didn't take that lightly. Other, and the main reason for him not receiving the award was Yash Chopra. He made sure Sanu didn't receive that or any awards in the future. Due to this, Kumar Sanu never sang for YRF again, until after Yash Chopra died.

In 2020, kalank song won filmfare award. Monotonous nasal overrated Kumar Sanu can't sing that song. That song has lot of high notes . Kumar Sanu can only sing same type simple flat romantic songs and copy Kishore Kumar.

Tujhe dekha toh yeh jaana sanam yeh song mey bhi Filmfare award Kumar Sanu daa ko hi milna chahiye thaa. sab ko pata hai 1995 mey Sanu Daa k yeh gaana sabse super dupper hit huwa thaa.. but mehandi lagake rakhna doli sajake rakhna yeh song ko diya gaya hai filmfare award Udit Narayan ko.. aur 1999 mey Aankho ki ghustakhiya yeh song Sanu Daa ko filmfare award milna chahiye thaa. But 1999 mey bhi yeh song chand chhupa badal mey Udit Narayan ko diya gaya filmfare award. Kumar Sanu Daa k samne Udit Narayan ka yeh song kuchh bhi nahi... Sanu Daa k saath bahut bada naa insaafi huwa hai bhai...
