3:06 You know I never realized Shen telling Po his parents didn’t love him was a way for Shen to hide and cope with his own pain. Shen genuinely believed his parents didn’t love him which is honestly just sad. There’s even a deleted scene where you can Shen starts getting emotional when telling Po *”how worthless you have to be for your own flesh and blood not to love you… even a little.”* He says this to Po to break him down, but is really describing himself. The Soothsayer even points out to Shen later that his parents loved him very much and that banishing him ended up killing them because of their grief and guilt. But Shen rebukes this information and continues to hang on to his false belief that his parents hated him and always did because he wants to feel like he’s the victim. It’s honestly sycophantic behavior and shows just how well Shen’s character was written.
