I didn't know that there was so much work involved in making such a video. It took me a whole day of shooting and editing. But I'm happy that I persisted. Thanks for watching and commenting Simon. I appreciate it!

Hi Brian! I wanted to thank you for your videos and update. You were my inspiration to go lightweight and how to get there. I am still planning on doind the Kungsleden (maybe 2020) but just got back from the West Highland Way which in the spring has fairly similar weather as the Kungsleden. With your video's as help and then learning some more, I got my baseweight down to 5.6kg, total weight of 7.8kg (2.5 days of food, 0.5L water as there was plenty along the trail) and Skin outweight of 9.5kg. Life was a lot easier for me than for other people I've met on the trail and I definitely have you as a silent mentor to thank. So .... thank you! And many more trails to you...

That really warms me Roxanne, thank you for finding the time to send me your feedback. But, I'm most happy for you and your recent experience on the WHW. With those weights you were able to enjoy your hike whilst still packing the essentials. I'm very touched that my videos and posts were able to help someone. You will make it to Kungsleden one day and like you say the conditions that you experienced in Scotland are very similar. You can do it! Keep up the good work on going lightweight. Happy trails!

Great videos you make, have been watching several of them - and now when watching your passport I realize that you are danish? Your accent never revealed that. Anyways, keep posting your very informative videos.

Thank you! I really appreciate the feedback. I was born in Australia but I have lived in Denmark for some 26 years and after the Danish laws permitted dual citizenship, I applied for my Danish citizenship a couple of years ago. The Danish passport makes life a lot easier for me, especially when crossing over into Sweden. As I wasn't born here this explains the " no Danish accent" but my Australian twang still shines through.

@@BrianOutdoors Yeah, I thought it was some australian accent I could hear but thought at that time, that you were living in the UK even though I couldn't match it with your hiking destinations. I'm glad you like it here - and keep posting!

Ok so your entire pack was just 12,5 kg? That's pretty lightweight. Did you find food every 3 Three days somewhere on the trail? like in an stf cabin And where is your knife? I didn't see one on the video. Best regards

Please see the description for full details. If you read the article I wrote then you will see all food that I packed. I make my own dehydrated food for dinners. I did not buy any food. (I did buy once when I stayed at the Kebnekaise mountain hut but I took the packed meal home with me so I did have all the food for all the days). The only 2 items that I purchased in the cabins was two beers. :) The 12.5 kg is the skin out weight not pack weight. Skin out weight includes the clothes on me plus my trekking poles and anything else on my person. The total pack weight is 10 kg including food and fuel but not including water! You can see the knife in the first aid kit. It is a Swiss Army Knife Classic SD including scissors & tweezers weighing 21 grams. You don't need big knifes. Hi Brain, I will go Fjallraven trail this year 2019, and i worry on weather there.do you have any prefer ? when will sleep we must to have insulated under sleeping mat?

Hi Thanaphan, the temperatures could vary from 0°C and up to 20°C. My quilt can handle temps to below 0°C and then I can open it up if it gets too hot. To answer your question, you need to have a sleeping pad that will handle the same temperature swings. You can get lucky and have some nice weather up there but you will normally experience a mixed bag with wind, rain and some sunny moments. You should test a pad before you take it but I prefer the Therm-A-Rest Neoair XLite - Regular with a R-Value of 3.2 and weighing 341g. Make sure that your pad has a good R-Value. Hope that this answers your question.
