Very nice! My father and I built a kit clavichord around 1982. It was quite an adventure as the instructions were hand typed and didn't have many illustrations! It's still had my parents' house and sounds wonderful. I hope this will be with you for a long time!

What strings did you both use? I'm planning to try building a clavichord soon

@@mel_163 They came with the kit, but Zuckerman sells appropriate strings. Good luck!

@@fepatton Ay didn't know that, that's cool. Thank you!
Beautiful instrument! It takes a lot of talent and time to build this. Beautiful sound and performance, too.

Very cool. And the most important: a portable keyboard instrument.

Portátil e acústico (eu sei que foi isso que você quis dizer, mas só pra ficar claro)!

The Antonio Vivaldi mandolin concerto kept it entertaining. Enjoy your well tempered clavier. 😀

I have the same instrument--the newspaper says "Connecticut" @ 0:14 so I think it's from Zuckermann Harpsichords, in Stonington. I had to have it professionally strung and regulated since unlike a harpsichord, the tuning pins are very close together and it's difficult to get the string wrapped around correctly. Also, you have to bend the tangents into the correct position. Playing the clavichord improves your technique because you have to keep your fingers curled otherwise you can't hit the accidentals. Great sound!
I built a couple of those. Best clavichord limit ever

Fantastic! Thank you for sharing this video of the construction. I am a piano tech and enjoy watching keyboard instruments being built.

Thank you for the video that shows how much precise work was still needed. Unlike T.K. Padilla, I could have done without the mandolin music. Why no chlavicord music? - All the best! 🌸🎼🌺

Beautiful! What was your process for transferring the images onto the wood-was that an iron-on transfer for t-shirts? I'm thinking of building one of these and would like to do something similar.

Did you ever end up building one?
@lukehillman3 жыл бұрын
@@archkull I have it in my basement, but I haven't started putting it together yet. The manual is very dense; this thing needs a full instructional video-maybe I'll attempt one as I assemble it.

@@lukehillman I'm also curious about imaging onto the wood.
