Your undying optimism and energy to push forward is very inspiring, and it helps me whenever i feel down about my drumming technique. Thank you for your videos!!
Hello, I am Taiwan University's student. I really appreciate you sharing these videos on KZbin, these videos that me know a new way to processing wood.
8:25 In order to give your springs more strength, an idea would be to create this spiral by cutting along the grain (wood layers overlap on top of each other) rather than against the grain (cutting through the wood fibers) which you have done here. Cheers! May the best Yaruki be Motivated!

How easy is it to create a cylinder against the grain?
@thesentientneuron6550 Жыл бұрын
@@dontghostbanmeplz8788 I'm not sure, cutting against the grain (meaning through the fibres) requires a lot more force than along the grain. It is far easier to delaminate (separate the layers of) the wood fibres than it is to cut through them.

Try putting your rod at an angle of 60 degrees or so instead of 90 degrees to the blade. Can angle the back of your jig that your stop blocks and J support go up against. Or use different wedge shaped pieces to achieve different angles against the square back of the jig.
@courtneycox8265 Жыл бұрын
Yes angling in two dimensions should be able to have the cut aligned with the spiral.

Всё намного проще. Надо не двигать каретку по столу. Надо вращать заготовку. А угол вращения (шаг спирали) задаст лезвие ножа. И не будет ступеней совсем. Решается за минуту и не надо опытов многомесячных.
Cutting the spiral is a similar process to how screws in wood were first made. And you can still buy the tools (well, in the US and UK you can) to cut threads in wood by hand.

OK, I am no carpenter, but I'm pretty sure, this can be solved better, by using a lathe + the mechanics used for turning screw threads there?!?! Or is it just showing off how to do complicated things by hand?
thank you for taking us along developing your technique 👍🏽 amazing what you developed by not giving up but by continuing 👍🏽 that called real determination 👍🏽
