Oh yes, recall going on the Kuranda Train from Cairns To Kuranda and back to Cairns and also the Gondola where you can see the rainforest above. This was in April, 2001 during school holidays while visiting PNG families who were living in Redlynch. 😊🌞👍💪🎊

I think it was around 2002 when I first found out about the Gondola and couldn't wait to try it, which I think happened about 2005. I have a friend that's worked there for years!

This looked like such a fun outing! Gold Class, sounds fancy! 😝 That turn on the train where you can see the entire train looks so cool! The town of Koranda looked very cute, I’d buy some indigenous art for sure. That flightless bird reminds me of something that would have been around in Jurassic Park for some reason… lol. Loved this episode Chris! Ooh! The butterflies 🦋 the glass bottom on the gondola would be both awesome and scary for me!

Hey guys...how are you going? Thanks a bunch for watching the start of my north Queensland series and my last road trip. We were having a very spoiled day with gold class and the glass bottom gondola... it's all about the journey and it's a lovely day out for sure. The cassowary do look like something our of a Jurassic movie...in fact they get very agile when provoked and attack... but that's like most the Aussie animals I guess...🤣🤣... KZbin is bound to have some of those videos...lol.

Hello! Did you book the tickets for the scenic rail and skyrain in advance or can you do it when you get there?
@AquariusTraveller

Yes we booked it in advance,which I think is more needed for the train. But paying when you get there would depend if it's a busy season and having the tickets available

Thank you for this - you are the ONLY person I have come across after a lot of searching to state the *actual* travel time from start to finish (my husband was panicking a little about how much actual time you spend inside the cable car, and this helps us tremendously in planning our travel!). So if you took the cablecar both ways and didn't want to go exploring on one of the directions, do they still make you get off and then line up again or can you just stay out, do you know? Thanks again and will check out your other videos :-)
@AquariusTraveller
@AquariusTraveller 5 ай бұрын
Hi there and thanks so much for the lovely comment. 😀 There is a midway station where you are forced to get off and change tracks... this is where the rainforest walk is. Apart from that, I would allocate extra time to line up, and bookings to ride are made within an hourly period.... so I'm expecting they will force you to get off and line up again. That and they give the cart a wipe down and sanitise before the new people get on. With that said... if your visiting in a slow period, I'm sure they would get you stay on, but only if others aren't lined up waiting..... But you will still need to get off midway and line up to change tracks.
@AquariusTraveller

Definitely quicker on the cable car than the train and I hear of plenty of people going up and back on skyrail.

The extra things did make it worth it...more comfy seats on the train and the glass bottom gondola. The service was nice too and some really helpful staff. I did the general class last time but can't remember being too squashed in... we might have visited at a less busy time though

@@welltravelledlife did you go on the gondola on the way up then? The three times I've done the kuranda trip I've always done the train up and gondola back .... I have a friend working for skyrail and always told that was the best way. Sad the train was so busy for you... I did see the seats on the general clas and can understand your frustrations. Although the only difference on skyrail is no glass... you'll almost all the time get a gondola witb your group and it's so much quicker to get back down...plus the different view to Barron falls. Did you see the falls in full flood? ..amazing site but only saw that once myself in March
@welltravelledlife
@welltravelledlife Жыл бұрын
@@AquariusTraveller yes, I did the gondola up and the train back. Barron falls was really full and you can see in our video how brown the water was because there had been quite a bit of rain , so there was a fair amount of sediment. My sense was that the views were pretty similar whether you went up on one or back on the other - but I’d trust your friend who works there - she’s got the low down!
@AquariusTraveller
@AquariusTraveller Жыл бұрын
@@welltravelledlife Thats great you got to do the Skyrail and saw Barron in full flood - After two visits with my partner - he is still yet to see it with water...LOL. I just looked up my photo from general class on the train and we were the only ones on the whole row of seats - I guess it was a slow period and everyone could spread out.
