This may be a new harness design but all your previous harnesses stated they were crash tested but they still failed crash tests. Also seeing the crash in your test you can see the narness cut right into the dogs shoulders

Kurgo Tru-Fit was also supposed to be a valid safety device. Why pay more than twice if there is no quantified improvement in crash tests (otherwise show comparison!) ans less versatility?

Not sure why so many upset Karen’s on here. It’s simple people, this harness will help to keep your dog secured and safely in your car. I don’t believe it’s a guarantee product that your dog will not be injured or even killed. It’s to lesson the chances. It’s to keep your pup I. The vehicle after an accident so he / she gets out and runs into traffic, or away. I saw this on TV in a Jeep Cherokee commercial. Unlike the Karen’s on here I’m just looking for something to (help protect my dogs) there are no guarantees, but at least this will give your dog a better chance of surviving if you get in a crash.

I know what you mean. I have a dog which gets vehicle anxiety and just can't sit still in the car. I've tried a different type of harness before but she was pissing about so much that she stepped on the seatbelt release giving her freedom to jump around in the car. she's only young yet and she needs to learn that the car is safe, she can't learn that if she doesn't go in the car and I'm afraid she'll jump in the front when I'm driving. I never had this problem before with my Staffie. He loved it. A few times he completely refused to get out of it. Looking back at how upset he was when leaving the car makes me regret not giving him longer walks. Anyway. I'm getting one just to teach her it's safe to be in the car and for her and our safety. Forget the assholes on here. Clearly they don't love their pets enough to care about their dogs lives over their comfort. I completely agree with you. Ignore them.

While a harness like this will stop the dog from being a projectile, the dog will hit the rear of the front seat well before the seat belt has a chance to do its job. I like how in all the crash test videos the back seat is unrealistically far apart than in a typical car.

the biggest danger is the dog running from the scene of a crash after windows are busted out and its scared out of its mind. if the harness can keep the dog in the vehicle its chance of survival is highly increased.

Put him in the front seat? Also, you hit the breaks before a collision. You're thinking of the worst car crashes and most likely you wouldn't survive either. Plus would you rather your dog die inside the car, or watch it get launched out of the vehicle/ kill you while flying around in the car?

Hey ruthless It’s to keep the pup secure and keep the pup from flying into the front seat. It does both these things. If you don’t like it, don’t buy it. It’s designed to try and keep both the pup and people is the vehicle safer then if they weren’t restrained.

You could make sure the belt is in locked mode. Saw another brand recommend that. Using those bread clips? Or what its called. Pulling on the belt fast until it locks. Put this clip on the belt to prevent the belt from rolling back in. And its stuck in lock mode.

My dog is able to rear back, tuck his head in and under, and shrug himself out of the harness regardless of how snug I make the straps. Is there any way I can keep this from happening?

She's 6 pounds, a remarkable assistance dog, licensed by the state. Service dogs don't need to be licensed. Mine is due to her unique innate abilities. She does things you can't train a dog to do. A wonderful gift but I find the harness difficult while I realise I'm new to it. Almost as heavy as she is.

Hi, yes your dog can lie down in the car with all of our harnesses. If your dog is 75 pounds or under, you might find that our Enhanced Strength Tru-Fit Harness is the most comfortable for your dog and is still crash-tested for dogs under 75 pounds. If there is excess length to go under the clip on the back, how do you then also put the seatbelt through the back loops. It seems that when the access is clipped down you don't have loops for the seatbelt. I am using a small with a puppy so there is extra to clip down but I also want to belt him in. Hopefully I am explaining my question clearly. thanks

Hi Andrea, The clip on the back of the harness is an optional feature that can help keep excess webbing neat and contained while walking your dog to and from your vehicle. When you need to use the harness in the car, you will need to remove the excess webbing from the clip so that the webbing loops can be used to attach your dog directly to your vehicle’s seat belt. Thank you for reaching out! The only crash test that was conducted by the Center for Pet Safety on Kurgo Harnesses was done in the summer of 2013. The CPS has since started to require any potential participants to pay to be certified which created doubt in the validity of the company. They are not accredited or backed in anyway by any safety commission. We want to offer our customers peace of mind when making such an important decision in their pet’s safety so we have declined further testing by the CPS and instead have our products tested with the guidelines developed by the Pet Products Standards Council (PPCS) and Calspan. All of these reasons are why the PPSC was created, to get a recognized standard across the pet industry. Our Enhanced Tru-Fit Smart Harness was most recently tested in 2018 at Calspan’s Buffalo, NY crash test facility and passed the PPCS laboratory test procedure for pet safety harness restraint systems. The test procedure was developed by the PPSC in conjunction with Calspan, the test facility that maintains the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 213 for Child Restraint Systems and conducts all of the car seat performance tests for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The PPSC test procedure adapts FMVSS 213’s strict safety standards that are designed to protect children and makes them applicable to dogs. This doesnt work. When you put your dog in the car and fasten the seatbelt as shown in the video. Dog starts turning and this is tying his legs he gets stuck almost becoming gangrene

My puppy stepped on the seatbelt release and released the Kurgo strap designed to go directly into seatbelt.

We are sorry to hear your dog released the seat belt. It sound like you are using our Direct to Seat belt Tether which is not crash tested and should not be used with this harness. For the Impact Harness, you run the seat belt through the back straps. This method has been crash tested. The Direct to Seat belt Tether you describe only prevents distracted driving.

The adjustment buckles on the impact harness do not hold at all. This won't even stay secure on a dog, so offers exactly zero real world protection. Defective design, should not be sold.

Actually, this particular harness was not part of the 2013 testing you are referring to. It was designed and developed in 2015. Also, you should note that the testing you refer to was done in 2013 and many manufacturers, including Kurgo, improved their products since that time. There needs to be new testing on current models.

Nikki I saw a what appeared to be a harness that waa more secure, but $129.00 is a lot to many. Dogs in service should get free safety harnesses as well as free vests, free vet care, dental if someone can prove the only income they have is a sum so small, it's not enough to buy food. Free food designed or fresh for the proper breed should be free too. It takes 18 months to 2 hard years to train a service dog properly. I can spot a fake a mile away. A true sd will walk in step w you. Taught not to to respond to people trying to distract her. Perfect manners in a restaurant, why? # 1., she's already eaten. Sits quietly. She'd never bother anyone. She's easy going, and very well taken care of and loved. Constant reinforcement. They're happy to work because they feel our pain. They're not worked hard as some think. They're well groomed, very clean and well Mannered. I tie her leash on the shopping cart, she's great. There are no groups for her gifts . She's a medical dog, while small, she alerts prior to migraine onset. The remedy is taken because she gestured. The result, the attack never comes. - This took a very long time to figure out. A different type of group dropped in my lap and I learned well. I've heard every comment in the book. " They can do so much w dogs today." I'm thinking, They who. Certain dogs are supposed to be at my place for reasons I don't know at the time who end up helping me. People need to slow down and pay attention to the natural instincts everyone is born with. Invisible disabilities don't define my potential as a former licensed medical professional. There are a few other dogs able to do this in a variety of breeds. Handle w care. If you suffer daily migraines, this is a once in a lifetime gift to learn from. Help newbies, stand up for the person who can't. Sorry, off my soap box.
