According to Bruce Pritchard, Triple H was not cool with doing this angle and said in a writers meeting that nobody would believe a dweeb like Angle would beat HHH and get his girl. It was Pat Patterson who defended Kurt saying that Triple H should try and really fight with Kurt and see if he was a dweeb, then HHH backed down.

I know he just got his knees done which probably means he’ll never come back to wrestle but he retired at Wrestlemania a few years back
