Unbelievable. How is he not more famous. His name should be wellknown. Outstanding performance, i just put it on my myspace profile. That means a lot.

Bought that Grover Washington album. Never knew about writing lyrics to jazz tunes. No libraries open now. Online Siri told me Kurt Elling himself co-wrote lyrics) to his version of Winelight..And that classIc sax solo nowhere is found here

That is some other-worldly scatting. It really is like he lets himself leave his body. I've never heard anything like this --- and I sing! :-)

This is not my favorite song, but I really appreciate how your video shows Hobgood and Amster working together. That's really awesome to see.

I like Elling's voice - first heard him one NY'sEve from Chicago singing GreenDophin St & he blew me away, but he sometimes gets in his own way trying to be "cute/funny and it comes out as distraction. For exp. watch Jose James on YT, Do you feel, in NY @ the Poisson and total interaction w/his musicians. Swagger with less ego.

@FearLessPower Yes, it is seen a crime to move to the music in our country. People tend to freeze at concerts, thinking "OMG, I'm so in style, I payed 50 euros for the ticket to this fantastic concert of the artist I hadn't heard of before, I must behave like I don't care so that everybody thinks that im an expert not just an ordinary music enthusiast."

@supersingerevan15 жыл бұрын
sorry, but i must correct you. "Vocalise" is simply a vocal exercise without words, a practice dating back to even the 18th century (don't believe me, go read the Wikipedia article.) And then "vocalese" is when lyrics are written to originally all instrumental compositions or improvisations. he's still a BEAST at scatting, but it's just called an instrumental approach (which really should be what all scatters strive for, in my opinion), there's no other term for it.
