And I thought I knew all Kurt Weill -- these are wonderful, as is Herr Holzmair. Thank you for posting and introducing me to this music (written the year of my birth) of a favorite composer, and poet.

Robertus Koppies « ... ONE outstanding American singer of the 20th Century... » : you mean, only male singers ? And only bass-baritones ? Milnes, Warren, Tibbett, Hampson, Stewart, Harrell, Merrill ... If you want more, just ask.

Composer on lived 50 years? Songs have the Weill melodic touch. Thanks to WelleszCompany for sharing. I'm just listening to the melody and tone of the singer, not the words.

Wolfgang Holzmair sings with a British accent. Fine.

Are you really going to leave the title misspelled like that? And also the text on the video?

The poems are originally written in English... That should be the preferred language for performance

Perhaps the singer learned to sing English with an English accent, rather than American.

He's attempting to sing in English, but his accent is so strong as to make the text impossible to understand. As to the American/English aspects, it simply doesn't matter much - they are mutually intelligible. This is neither.

If an American had sung in German as poorly as he does in English here, you wouldn't have heard the end of it. Awful. And the text means nothing to him, which is weird, especially for him. Not my cup of tea. Fourth rate instrument, total lack of colors, and absolutely no gravitas in the performance of these songs whatsoever. I wouldn't pay to listen to it.

If you don't like the performance, demand your money back,

No, he has the money, I have the hair. ;) I sang for the last thirty years as a baritone and a tenor. Sang with this guy once. He is an amazing musician to be honest.
