Kurt, that gentleman at the end comes from provincia “Chimborazo”(The part that was inaudible). It is a region in the center of Ecuador in the sierras surrounded by beautiful volcano & mountain ranges. Most iconic “el taita” or Chimborazo which is a 6000 meter volcano with thousands of years of native history. Beautiful paisaje and even better gente. If you have some time to visit, you should! Yes, the summit of Chimborazo is actually the highest point on Earth measuring it from the centre of the planet because it is on the Equator, although mount Everest has more meters up from the sea level.

There is absolutely no one in the streets in the centre, and in the nightlife area ( between venues) Backpackers also get robbed at knifepoint....in daylight...if they have valuables. You hear stories about people getting robbed of their backpacks. There are never videos at dusk or at night...that is when Latin America cities gets dodgy. I nearly got jumped walking back from a bullfight in manizales at 2am when other people were around...but I punched one of them first...then a crowd appeared to stop the fight. I was lucky. Also...had a machete pulled on me in Salvador, brasil in dodgy area....midnight ( only had 3 pounds on me.not completely stupid)...and a couple of locals helped me out. Walking in cali, colombia in a bad downtown area at dusk i got a bad vibe...and jumped in a taxi. @@JT-qw1cn true, but either way it was a kind gesture to help him out, regardless.

Yeah that fade was super on point. I wish I could find someone that good here in the States. Everyone I’ve gone to is subpar. Disappointing.

And a straight razor shave all for $4? That’d cost $60+ here, wouldn’t turn out as nice, and you’d have to wait an hour first. I’m considering flying to Ecuador just for the haircut.

@@danthadon87@Mark Sherry Yeah, well, maybe. But I guess you just gotta have some experience with this to know the difference between someone's sob story to try and take advantage of you versus someone just really taking it out of their chest. I mean, the old man knew (of course) he could get money from the gringo, but that doesn't mean what he said wasn't true and from his heart. I mean, look at him, he's probably in his 80s shoe-shining on the streets, odds are he is indeed all alone in this world renting up a room for some change.
