I am a very serious admirer of Kurzweil products. Last year I purchased the PC for, because I like all the features that I heard and saw demonstrated. I am not disappointed, I recommend it, and I hope you will enjoy it if you get it.

Very well done. Thanks. I am a Nord guy now on my second Nord Piano. Had a "2" and now have a "5". The Piano 2 replaced my second Kurzweil back in 2014. Kurzweil was not up to the realism of the Nord acoustic pianos back then, string resonance and all. The Piano 5 is truly spectacular with the many improvements since the 2. But now on our worship team we need a second board for pads, strings, etc.. I got the nod for this new capability. So I have sorted through a bunch of synths without finding one that I really like. And suddenly the PC4 comes up on my radar. Yes. I am in the wait queue for the PC4-7, and from what I have heard in the many comparisons with other boards, the Kurzweil has all of the ones especially in this price range beat. Cannot say for sure the Kurzweil acoustic pianos will beat those of the Nord Piano 5, but I'll bet they will be darn close and the synth capability of the Kurzweil with editing is what I am after.

Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Back in the day Kurzweil keyboards were known for their “realistic” sound patches - pianos, string/orchestral, and even organs. The technology was also far advanced. I’m not sure what happened, it’s almost like after the K2600 series they got too comfortable with their status and then just coasted for the next decade or so. (Maybe the changing of ownership with Young Chan had a role in some of that 🤷‍♂️) Either way eventually everyone else caught up to them and then Nord stepped into that “most realistic piano” spot. I give credit to Nord for their great pianos. Once Kurzweil came back around with the Artis and Forte series, I personally prefer that German Grand sample on those. I’m not sure what it is but the PC4 and K2700 piano is almost like a watered down version of that same one as the Forte series though. I’ll be doing a future video comparing pianos. Sorry for the long comment but I can go on about keyboard pianos 😂

You should check out the comparison of the Nord stage 4 vs the kurzweil pc4, I think you’ll it up to par with the Nord and it’s $2700 cheaper, I know the Nord doesn’t sound $2700 better than the kurzweil

Too bad the inexpensive Yamaha DGX-670 is better than both the PC4 and probably the Nord. I was shocked, the DGX series has been on the market for at least 20 years, and it was a horrible keyboad. Then this 670 comes out and it is out of this world incredible. Editable and a fantastic evenly voiced sample to begin with editing. Most people will see no need to edit it at all. The 3 pedal system is the ONLY one I have ever heard that is acoustic piano accurate. The digital piano has finally arrived!

LOL yeah thanks. I'm not much of a "keyboard" guy - as in I don't play around much with keyboard sounds. I'd rather sit down with a nice piano patch and spend my time noodling around on the piano.... Also why I love the Kurzweil keyboards with that nice Steinway piano program.

I ended up buying this PC4. I've been a keyboard player for 56 years, been performing as an acoustic solo pianist for 23 years, been sound designing on synths for 35 years, a recording engineer for 30 years. I spent months attempting to make a good sounding piano for recording on this PC4. I failed. Then I purchased a Yamaha DGX-670 six months ago, and within one hour had a beautiful solo piano, then designed a soft felt ambient piano in 30 minutes. Finest digital piano I have ever played, and the 3 pedal system that comes with it is out of this world accurate to an acoustic piano. Been playing digital pianos ever since the first one 36 years ago. Have owned dozens of digital pianos, all of them not fun to play or listen to compared to the masterpiece 9 foot concert grands I play on stage. But this DGX-670 is the first ever where I have all the expression of an acoustic and the sound is close enough where I can enjoy the sound of it also. (sound is relative to your listening devices, I use studio quality linear response headphones and active near field monitors) I am keeping the PC4 however as a modular synth for VAST/FM sound design and a controller for 4 other synths, and as a different keybed to practice on for piano. Acoustic piano performers must use whatever piano is on the stage, adaptation to 100s of different actions, bad tuning, bad voicing is a skill all solo pianists must acquire.

Just wanted to let people know that while the Kurzweil PC4 piano is good enough for a band, it is not a good choice for solo piano and especially recording solo piano. We now have a very inexpensive way to record near perfect simulation of an acoustic solo piano with the Yamaha DGX-670. @@heavenlysounds6362

I read somewhere that Kurzweils piano was the most realistic sampled piano. I got the K2600 xs and that concert piano is to die for, it also has another one called orchestral piano which, is great for sad and romantic songs.

Kurzweil seemed to have all the controls I wanted in a keyboard but I didn’t see an audio interface built in. That was my major reserve as I kinda like all in one keyboards. Nice board though.

How does audio interface work?
@mstk8845
@mstk8845 5 ай бұрын
@@sharingmatters It allow the audio from the keyboard in built sounds and also mics or guitars you plug into the keyboard to go directly to your computer. You can technically buy a separate audio interface to get mic, guitar, or other instruments sounds into your PC/Tablet but it adds extra things you need to keep up with when dealing with audio routing on your computers software. With the audio interface built in I can just plug my keyboard into the computer and hear all sounds from the computer and other instruments through the keyboard’s headphone jack.

The thing that scares me is that it dont have an internal power supply. Honestly, i had lightning strike my mp7se, today leaving it dead, it struck the power supply. But i feel it is less likely to happen on a kurzweil.

@@heavenlysounds6362 Well, actually your demonstration and review made me purchase this keyboard. 💁🏻‍♀️ After long consideration and debates between other keyboards within this price range such as (MODX, Fantom 0, and Korg SV2) the ultimate winner for me was Kurzweil PC4 for its great piano sounds, pads, knobs, sliders, and key action. I can’t wait for my keyboard to arrive! I previously owned the Korg D1, but I needed an upgrade. Does your keyboard work well as a MIDI controller, also? Do you have any observations?

@@maggie.petkova Wow! That’s nice to hear. Kurzweil sounds are definitely far above those other brands. As far as MIDI controller, it should work just as well as the other brands. It has both USB and standard MIDI connections, although I haven’t used it for that. The latest thing I’ve learned about it has to do with changing the action. (Global-main2-velocity map.) It’s really cool. I’ll be doing a vid about that soon. I may also do a vid on the organs (as that deserves it’s own video). It’s a great keyboard for creating unique sound patches. Thanks again I appreciate your feedback.

Seriously considering this keyboard for worship due to the nice pianos and incredible strings but I am concerned about the keybed. Is it too soft/flimsy for piano playing? My point is like having such a big keyboard mainly because of the weighted 88 keys, it should be at least a sensitive and dynamic key to be able to play those moments while people are talking. I am used to Roland´s heavy hammer key and I love them, reason why I am concerned. What is your feeling about it?
