Roy Williams won more games in his first 10 seasons than any other coach ever. To this day, I would put 1996-98 two Jayhawks teams vs ANY TEAM.

THE MOST IMPORTANT moment in Kansas basketball history. Yes Bill Self became more successful. But it was Roy, who was handed Toyota Camry keys by Larry Brown, in turn Roy 15 years later handed over Cadillac keys to Bill Self.

Totally agree with this post, Kansas has been the best program in the country since Roy was hired. Larry Brown left the team on NCAA probation. Roy's long-term success is only rivaled by Coach K. Despite, not winning a NC, he is the best coach in Kansas history after Phog Allen. Bill Self is number three. How lucky are Jayhawk basketball fans? I became one after KU losing in 1997 and 1998 because it felt unjust for those teams to not finish and made Roy more despondent

without Roy...KU isnt the program it has been in the modern era...meaning the last 22 years...meaning without this guy, KU doesnt land the recruits that enabled us to win the last 8 Big 12 titles and make 3 national title games in the last 9 years...Roy laid the path that has made KU one of the top 4 programs EVER s of today! 89- Bill Self era was very important for Kansas...people rag on Roy...thank god for this guy...rock chalk KUUUUUUUUU

Well good ol Roy did coach at KU for a great 15 years not 30. I know he jumped ship to all you KU fans, but mind you Bill Self won you a championship remember that.

Um Roy didnt really jump ship. Roy was fr North Carolina, coached under Dean Smith. Not sure if u knew this...UNC wanted Roy in 1999. Roy TURNED UNC DOWN to stay at Kansas.

Roy Williams and Kansas BEAT that great UNLV team in Nov 1990, NIT PRESEASON Tournament. UNLV was #1 at tipoff. Larry Johnson was on that Rebels team. KU also beat #2 LSU that same Tournament with Shaq on their team. This same season (1990-91), Kansas gave Kentucky thier worst beatdown to this very day. Dec 9, 1990. Kansas 150 Kentucky 95. Kansas was 19-0, #1 in country mid Jan 1991. Lol, just to think? This team was suppose to have Thomas Hill and Harold Miner on it too. Those 2 wouldve put KU over the top. Shit, they almost did it without them

Bottomline? Jayhawks have just been flat out unlucky in National Title games. Lol, its L U C K. One bounce of ball, or couple more FTs made? KU has 5 Nattys instead of 3. Maybe even 6. The NCAA Tournament 1966 when Jo Jo stepped out of bounds? KU was clear cut favs to win it. Then 1957 is still a head scratcher. Idc...How do u lose IN 1957 with basically a "basketball player fr future" on yo team in Wilt Chamberlain? Lol, that's ridiculous. Its basically like losing the state High school basketball Championship when you had Shaq circa 1992 on yo team. Our time is coming. Bill Self may honestly be the best coach we've ever had. He's too good to leave here or be done with just 1. I feel Self will get #2 in nxt 2 years, then floodgates. Chiefs/Jayhawks SB and NCAA Titles are coming. Royals? You kidding me? Even tho I like the moves we are making and we just had six top60 draft pix, I can still go another 5-7 years off 2014,2015.
