Since watching yalls videos it makes me wanna go. I'd like to hit this one, lake Lanier and lake Chamberlain in Kentucky. I normally do the Texas Outlaw Challenge in Seabrook, the Lonestar Thunder run on lake Travis and last year hit Lake of the Ozarks. Going back to LOTO this summer.

@@BarrowedTime Our first boat together was a frozen and broken 454 replaced it in time to blow an outdrive cruising down the Ohio, replaced with another Outdrive to be broken down at the Cumberland Poker Run, Got it fixed to Blow that outdrive, bought a new outdrive and got it wrapped up in someones boat cover, we finally bought our Cruiser and have been very fortunate since then, based on the wreck and followed by the much more expensive boat that you are working on I really do sympathize and hope your family gets the answer you are looking for, anyway I can help? I can imagine Lake Cumberland is missing you two! Drive the motor home and take out Recovered Change?

Hey man just had a quick question. If I wanted to own/operate and maintain a boat just like yours with around the same hours, how much money would you recommend that someone would have to make a year to be able to comfortably afford the payment, major or minor repairs and maintenance, fuel, insurance, slip fees and winter storage? I own a small 3 bedroom home, not married, no kids and my monthly bills are around $2,300 a month now and I currently make $80k a year at my job. I'm guessing I would need to make at least $120k a year before I even think about getting into a plus 32' go fast and not be strapped for cash. Could you please respond to that question?

Well, it really depends on how much the boat costs you. It's getting hard to get loans on boats older than 20 years. You can still finance them, but you may have to put more down or finance on shorter terms. Insurance will cost you on average $200 a month, give or take. Most all the boat we've had average 1mpg, that should give you an idea on fuel usage. Regular maintenance is basically oil changes on 2 engines once a year, raw waterpumps every other year or so, and in our case maintenance on a trailer. We're not anywhere near a lake or marina to keep it in a slip. And we enjoy not being tied down to one body of water. Our boat stays at our house all year so.we don't have to pay for winter storage and I do all the maintenance and work on it.

For something like that, do you think making around $120k a year would be a good benchmark to be able to afford it and run it once or twice a week? I would prob only drive around 50miles per week with it.

@richr909 I would think so. Always try to buy the biggest boat you can afford, haul, and store. That way you're not losing money trying to upgrade all the time for 1 or 2 feet extra.

We really appreciate that. Unfortunately, the reason for the oil change in the parking lot was a cracked exhaust port in the head. Looks like we'll be down again for a few weeks 😪

​@Barrowed Time how did you find the crack in the exhaust port?

I pulled the plugs when we got home from the lake and found water on the #5 plug. Figured it had to be the header since I just had engine rebuilt. Pressure tested the headers with air and water, both cold and hot and no signs of leaks. Then rigged up some fittings to pressure test the block and heads. As soon as I applied air pressure I had water spraying out the #5 exhaust port. So off came the head!
