Rough Collies are my favorite breed. I've owned Rough Collies for more than 30 years. A Rough Collie trained as a service dog would be fantastic now. A dream... ❤

I had two strokes when I was a kid. A therapist told me I should look into a service dog. I grew up with a Yorkshire terrier. I always loved collies even golden retrievers, and all dogs. In this video it sounds like it will help me like going up steep curbs, brace, mobility. I do not use a wheelchair unless I’m at like Disney World. My stroke gave me poor balance and vision loss. I’m trying to find out if I get a service dog will I have a harness like that lady was using and maybe a visual aid harness just to move out of tight areas, get out of objects from my right vision. Last year I was at Disney World. The park was really crowded and I could hear everybody having a good time.My vision made me nervous. I staggered I felt like I was going to fall. But I caught myself. If I have a service dog with both handles. Would this not have happen?

A mobility dog can definitely help you with balancing and bracing before you fall! My service dog in training is being trained for mobility when I have drops in blood pressure, which causes difficult leg and arm fatigue. Look into Yupcollars and Bold Lead Designs. They have a wide variety of harnesses where you can have a guide handle and mobility handle attached to one harness to fit both your needs!

Dear Snoopy 82, Part of the application process to apply for a mobility collie from my program involves your coming to Oregon and actually walking with a fully trained demonstration dog. This give you an opportunity to feel what this type of mobility assistance feels like.😊

can you post a video with a smooth collie? idk if its the fur, but smooths seem smaller?
@kvcolliegal5 жыл бұрын
No. Smooths are not smaller. Take a look at the Playlist called Shelly & Jordan. Jordan is 25" and 85#'s. Enjoy!

Can a kid control one if they need that moblity??
@kvcolliegal6 жыл бұрын
Absolutely they can, yes! The dogs are trained to maintain their working positions. The harness provides the "connection" to the dog but is not a source of control. Control is done verbally and with light collar cues.

Hello Snoopy82, Yes, a Mobility Dog would indeed help you move through a place like Disney World with confidence and ease. I offer a "Walkabout"(walk with a trained dog) experience if you can come to Corvallis, OR. That way you can "feel" your way into this option for mobility assistance. Please call me if you have questions. I invite you to visit my youtube channel called Leslie Rappaport to see a video PLAYLIST called Living with Balance and Mobility Challenges. Also one called The Walkabout Program. Enjoy!

Don't worry. The dogs who do this work love to be helpful, have big generous hearts and feel fulfilled by their careers. Their human partners show them love, respect and appreciation at all times😊❤
