1937 లో 11 బ్రిటిష్ ఇండియా రాష్ట్రాల్లో ఎన్నికలు జరిగినాయి.INC-7 States లో మొదట అధికారంలో కి వచ్చింది ఆ తర్వాత అస్సాం లో ముస్లిం లీగ్ స్థానం లో కాంగ్రెస్ ప్రభుత్వం ఏర్పరిచింది.ఇతర 3 రాష్ట్రాల లో 1. సింధ్-independent party,2-punjab-unionist party,3.bengal-prajakrushik party లు అధికారం లోకి వచ్చాయి.1939 Dec 22 INC 8 రాష్ట్రాల్లో రాజీనామా చేసింది.

Congress succeeded in forming a coalition government in this way, Congress came into power in 8 provinces. The Unionist party won a majority in Punjab under the leadership of Sikander Hayat Khan. In Bengal, the Krishak Praja Party of Fazal-ul-Haq formed the government. In 1937, elections were held in eleven provinces in the country. Among these, Indian National Congress gained a majority over eight provinces and came to power. In the other three provinces, none of the party could achieve a majority and therefore mixed cabinet was formed. madras , u.p , bombay, central provinces, bihar, assam , orissa, & punjab&sindh were merged. During the quit India movement major leaders were in imprisoned. So the masses adopted this movement themselves and continued great way but Muslim league and some other national leaders didn't cooperated them, they didn't accepted ghandi step. And imperial govt taken the stringent action on it. To suppress the movement.
