Guy, this has been a problem since we were in Primary 3 and it's still a problem after Uni. and working for like 6 years. It gets worse each year when the rains come. You know what this tells me? This Country never ever go beee! I'm glad you talked about constructing open gutters in this 21st century. If there are no open gutters, where will those who throw waste into gutters throw them? On the streets I guess. I as a person will forever blame Politicians for such problems in the country. We bring them to power and it is their sole responsibility to create systems that will prevent such disasters from happening. Sheldon, travel and see if you've not heard. The first time I traveled, I regretted being a Ghanaian born in Ghana. People are living Heaven on earth. The system in Abrokyire works 24/7. The government makes sure of this. Systems are working elsewhere wai so stop blaming the Citizenry. If they put in systems that allows throwing rubbish into gutters, that's what we will do because the system allows it. GHc1,600 is taken out of my salary as Tax every month. Do you know GHc1,600? After paying this tax to the government, what more do you expect me to do? Guy, Ghana is a failed state and the earlier people realize this and advice themselves, the better. The Politicians are supposed to make the country better but they can't and won't. Countries that are supposed to develop have already developed. If your country is not developed as at now, forget about it. It will never ever happen. Safe.

Everything rises and fall on leadership, we have our part to play I agree but what are the laws regarding the sanitation and planning in this country. If offenders are arrested what punishment are meted out to them. That's why I still think it is the government's responsibility to mitigate flooding in our country, saying this does not mean only the sitting government is to blame. This problem is systemic and we need a radical approach and not partisan politics approach.

If the gutters were open here in the UK, people would use it as a bin also. This is why the gutters are closed. It is the fault of the government. Also I didn’t see any bin on the streets of Accra so where would people put rubbish?? It’s very simple to see why this is happening.

Lol, political propaganda, This specific area, has nothing to do with choked gutters, Town and Country planning in Accra is more corrupt than the police service , the government and leadership is to be blamed, the same way mahama was blamed for dumsor . The government sector isn't working, if you don't believe me go to Adma in a adenta on a Friday, the mce collects an envelope for every job he has to do . The guy who checked the structural integrity for the Melcom building that collapse , that lead to deaths has been transfered to same position at la nkwantanang , Then when you talk , you are dealt with in such a way to silence others.

I hear people always blaming building in water ways and that's just repeating political talking points that is not true. It is a planning problem, you can plan and build an estate right in the middle of a river is you plan the drainage well. Those in change of town and city planning what are they doing as their day to day? It is their job to ensure these things done happen and it's governments job to fund and hold them accountable and it's our job to hold government accountable for the taxes we pay to them.
