The first time I played against this commander, the turning point was when they managed to put 4 copies of Forced Fruition into play in a turn. Play a card, draw 28.

Forced fruition is so scary, even if you have lethal on board. Played against it during Eldraine pre-release, took me 3min to think of my turn despite obvi having lethal just because I could only play 1 more card, and it had to create enough of a buffer jic any more funny business occurred.

Love my Kwain deck, it's my "we're all not bricking today" deck, we're all drawing as many cards as you want because I don't plan on winning. I can win, but it's a lab man win, everyone can draw their deck looking for an out as I'm drawing too. It just feels bad having those games where one guy's stuck on two lands with a cultivate in hand, so go ahead, get your extra cards, I wanna see how this game goes.

I have one. It's wonderful. Atraxa as chief, in case everyone gets a bit too untrusting. More cards for everybody, more mana for everybody, more lands for everybody. Sheming symmetry and Monkey Paw for extra fun. The only actual win condition is Villanous Wealth. This deck does not win often. But boy, is it fun.

As a blue player, my own card-draw engine is automatically part of my deck build. And if you want everyone to draw cards, and me to draw EVEN MORE cards, you must have malicious intent. Plus, just as a matter of course, people playing Azorius colours typically rate highly on my "nuke this guy" list. Only a fool lets the control guy settle in for the mid-game.

Played against this once. It got to a point where everyone was drawing 16+ cards a turn and people were being decked out by various card draw and mill effects. Once he had his engines going he held up counter spells and proceeded to play blue-white control on everybody. He had some Eldrazi in the deck to recycle his graveyard so as to not deck out. I managed to fight through interaction by casting insane amounts of spells he drew me into, but holy shit was that a hard game to win. The other two players got hugged to death!

When I maid my own Kwain deck I based it on one phrase. "Don't look at me." The deck is meant to help EVERYONE, but the moment you start looking my way, either becuase you're greedy or I'm the only one left, things start going badly for you as all my defensive and counterspells will only have one target.

Last time I played against Kwain, I was playing simic Jolrael, turning my lands into X/X fliers equal to the amount of cards in my hand. Other opponents were looking at us like we hustlers in cahoots and had a secret meeting before the game.

It's fun to use in a 'mill' deck. They put their library into their hand instead of graveyard. But you can still run the mill packages in bruvac and other 'draw cards to mill cards' effects. Slap on some board wipes, turbo card draws like wheels or coveted jewels to feel like you're not targeted, and steal your board type stuff. Someone ramped - scholarship sponsor everyone gets their lands, someone built a lethal board- reins of power them, or if needed a graveyard hate - calamity's wake exiles it and stops non creature spells.

I run a Kwain deck. It is fun, however people realize quick that the wabbit is doing a lot more damage than help. One of my big combos is crested sumare + Phyrexian Metamorph (or copy effect) using Kwain you can generate a massive army of Horses lead by a Crazy Rabbit.

My sister plays this commander. She plays it exactly as you'd want to have it played. It just helps the table, bar none. No wincons. No counterspells. Nothing bad. Just lifegain and card draw. Maybe the occaisional "decking out" if you let her play too long, but she'll likely deck herself first. Yet people are so paranoid of what Kwain does because of the bad apples, who take him and twist him into some Phyrexian amalgamation, that she gets targeted down and subsequently loses quite quickly. It is all I can do to keep her in the game after turn 4 when this happens. And I usually want to keep her in so I get my wincons and my opponents can see who the real asshole of the sibling pair is. She literally made the deck to help someone at the table win. She's told me. She's not incompetent. She's made plenty of crazy powerful decks that have iron tough defenses and hit like trucks. She's a fantastic Magic player. This is how she has fun, now. Now her other, REAL Kwain deck that she only has the money to play with on free avenues such as Cockatrice on the other hand... *shiver*
