This is how the body works. It accommodates your mind. Whatever your mind decides to do, the body will accommodate it. This is why you have people dunking at 5'5, 5'7, and 5'9" the body will not accept failure unless the mind is pre-set to fail. Keep jumping the brain sends signals throughout the body and puts it on notice that you need to jump higher. As you eat and sleep, youR body then aligns and redesigns itself to accommodate. in about a year's time (for some 2 years), you will touch rim, then grab rim, then ball to rim (missing of course), then ball barely in, then soft dunking, finally hard dunks (windmills) BUT ITS FIRST STARTS IN THE MIND.

I try to tell people that. Just practice jumping. I decided to start dunking when I saw SDC around 2004. I was VERY determined, I had no clues of what working out or training was, and I never heard of it or saw anybody doing it. I was just 12. I would attempt for hours to dunk even though I could barely touch the rim. I did this for couple of days, my mind was focus on dunking and I BELIEVE I would dunk. Then I stopped. 3 months later I went back to the gym without training, and the rims looked so low for me, I was asking if they lowered the rims, I knew for a fact I didnt grow (I was 5,9/5,10). I took the ball and I dunked sooo easily. My friends couldnt believe their eyes. I did a 360 as well the same day repeatedly. I thought it was a miracle. There are so many things Ive done in basketball just by believing without a doubt that would seem unreal, for example, shooting with my back to the basket with both hands without looking during a game, and I just knew 110% it was going in... I reached a high vert of 43 at 6,3, really without any additional training, I would squat here and then, run on hills and do suicides, but that was only when I went to high school, so at 16. But I was already jumping that high before I started doing these. I just became more explosive when I was jumping.
@slater1ist8 жыл бұрын
Moses C. I just watched other kids do it. Like this one kid Terry. He was 5'10 (age 14) and couldn't dunk but was determined to do it. I would just dish him the ball everyday for like 1 or 2 hours a day then he got hit by a car so we couldn't do it for like almost a year. then after he got his cast off he started walking and then jogging and we got back to the hoop. By the time he was 16 he was dunking still at 5'10" too.

And other people saying "dunks are only 2 points"...true...but elevation is priceless. Seeing over the rim on your jumper...rebounds...blocks...jumping from outside the paint and getting the easy bucket without any1 being able to contest...true dunks are worth 2 points..but he'll be able to accumulate a lot more of these "2 points" than you ever will. So please shut up and enjoy the young man's talent
