It's interesting to hear that you can rest while awake & that some activities I do can be considered rest... Tbh, reading self-help books is often draining especially when the vocabulary used surpasses my own & requires me to keep stopping to look up a definition; it can be very reminiscent of the mundane experiences in school → information overload. But a book that peaks my interest or is more entertaining as opposed to teaching a skill or inspiring one to excel, those can be "restful." I feel like social media these days is a disservice to our brains & makes anything over 60 seconds too long to maintain our attention, yet, a documentary or show that we find intriguing could be restful.

Yeah, I fell asleep at a light on my way taking my son to school. I was in twilight though because I could hear the radio & faintly hear horn honking. I woke up praising God that I didn't crash & injure my child, myself, or anyone else.

An intelligent discussion on a very important topic! I feel that lack of rest contributes to the increase in chronic diseases and mental diseases. Thank you for highlighting this very important topic. As someone else mentioned in the comments peace of mind is also important.

One restful thing I have done at work is find small tasks away from my normal intense work like filing, misc where I'm walking but giving myself less or nothing to focus on.

Humans don't need more rest or sleep. Humans need peace and purpose. The whole world system is designed to make humans into machines without emotions or rest. It was designed to break the humanity off of you.

Notable Insights: • Rest is highly individualized; what is restorative for one person may not be for another. • Common restful activities include reading, being in nature, and alone time. • Guilt often prevents people from resting, though it is essential for mental and physical health. • Businesses and schools should emphasize breaks to improve productivity and well-being.

We need breaks, regularly. I have a designated “hushed” day on the weekend (vs. being rushed).

Very good subject 👍👌 In the busyness of today's world people need 48 hrs in a day 😂 God gave us the example after He had ended His work week. Gen 2:1-2 , Thanks Jim 👍👌😇

I'm one of those people who find reading an endurance exercise, and I'd usually stay awake, thinking about whatever book I was reading, if I decided to read before bed.
