Loved everything except. ... Why didn't you show the pairing of the smart lock with the hub?
@MM-wp4kq4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I’m having problem with that as well

Sorry, I meant to show the pairing stuff, but I never got a chance to film it. I'll try to do that one of these days because that seems to be the most difficult part.

do you have to have the lock set up to a hub (like the actual modem thing) in order to use the SmartThings app to connect the lock to the app? Or can your lock be connected to the app with no hub?

Can you delete a code if you don't know it I didn't write down codes and now someone who is no longer living in my house is able to use this to get in if they choose too.
@BrettTheNerdyEngineer5 жыл бұрын
I think the easiest thing to do would be to do a hard reset of the lock to erase all the codes. But then you'll have to re-enter the other codes you still want.

Do I need a hub to program this?
@richierichie113097 жыл бұрын
Great video. Thanks. Quick question. Can the Smart hub control more than 1 lock, or do I have to have a hub for each lock? We have a small office building with about 10 doors I'd like to have these locks on so I can program them remotely. But I don't want to have to buy a hub for each lock. Thanks

+Dick Gelfman I'm not positive, but I don't see why the Samsung SmartThings hub wouldn't be able to control multiple locks. It's able to control multiple lights and other devices. You can name each device and control them separately. So I think one hub should be able to control all 10 of your locks.

How often do you change batteries? Ive read in other reviews that one ends up changing them every week. Pls advise.
@BrettTheNerdyEngineer5 жыл бұрын
The batteries usually last a year or two. If your batteries are dying that quickly, something is definitely wrong.

I have been using my lock for about a year and all of the sudden the display will not light up. Changed batteries twice, held my fingers on the display for 10 seconds, and still nothing. I can communicate with the lock on line through my Vera controller so it is definitely a hardware issue. Any suggestions?
@BrettTheNerdyEngineer6 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry to hear that. That really stinks. I don't know, but it sounds like a hardware problem if you're still able to control it wirelessly. Did the screen first stop working right after changing the batteries? Maybe you accidentally bumped something and a plug came loose inside? Since it isn't really working right now, I'd try unplugging and replugging all of the connectors inside the unit. Hopefully that fixes it for you. If not, maybe you can contact the manufacturer to see if they have any suggestions. Good luck!

Thanks for response. I was hoping to have to not disconnect/reconnect but I think it is inevitable. Couldn't get kwikset on the phone on a Sunday but I will call tomorrow. Thanks again.

How do you get it to recognize the lock ?
@BrettTheNerdyEngineer7 жыл бұрын
+cocoatnm the Samsung SmartThings Hub? You add it through the Samsung SmartThings app on your phone. It'll walk you through the steps to pair it.

How do you still like the lock?

+ur mom I really like it. I go through the front door a lot more because I don't have to bother with keys anymore. It's great for times when you want to go for a run or a bike ride and not carry keys with you. I also have a couple of "spare" codes programmed in for emergencies. That way if I ever need to, I can give someone one of the spare codes over the phone so that they can get into my house. Then I can delete that code later on. My only complaint is that if you screw up entering your code, there isn't a quick way to start over. You basically have to keep pressing buttons until it beeps at you and flashes. Then you have to wait a second to start over.

Can you program it to automatically open when you walk up to it with the smartthings hub?
@BrettTheNerdyEngineer7 жыл бұрын
+Hudson Geyer you probably could, but I don't think it would be secure. The lock itself doesn't have the ability (that I'm aware of) so doing it through the SmartThings hub would basically just unlock your door whenever your phone was at home which isn't very secure. The Kevo smartlock has that functionality though. The downside of the Kevo is that it lacks a keypad.

Mine quit working so I called the kwikset phone number and was told that this type lock will not work where it is hot ( I live in Arizona ). "Maybe you should put it on a back door and go buy something else." If it can't take heat, why sell it in a very hot climate? Not really the help I was looking for. Bye bye Kwikset, I'll go buy another brand.
