Your point about ranked or quickplay matchmaking happens for me as well. I'm only 180,000 prowess and in Raijin but my matchmaking will randomly break. It'll often say that it won't accept due to connection so I have to reset it or turn match making off and on. This has never happened for any other game, like Street Fighter.

Matchmaking make no sense. If matchmaking doesn't find a game within 5 minutes it'll start matching me with people in Asia when I'm in NA. You telling me there's no one playing Tekken in USA?

On Player Match/Quick Match, it should not be FT2 it should be were you can keep rematching it makes no sense that Quick Match is like that

It’s good for ranked but awful for quick matches. In ranked it is good because if they made infinite rematch then you would be able to grind points by just winning one person over and over

When I stop getting matches in ranked I pause, unpause, and reset the practice. Most of the time that gets me a match.

I get that at bushin as well, honestly I think it’s a technical issue cause once I notice matchmaking slow down, I’ll quit out to the main menu and go back and it seems fine again

I am addicted to Tekken but sadly the ranked mode in is busted af. The lack of updates towards making rank better is really chipping away the player base. The number of Tekken players online decreasing every month.

So, its definitely a thing. Me and my buddies just pause the practice which stops ranked from searching and when you unpause itll restart the search fixing the issue. If it takes more than 5 min for something to pop i do this and its worked for us.

bro i know exactly what you mean. i hopped on a long ranked session, and i got myself decent opponents in my elo (kishin), but the longer i played the longer i waited for matches. at the end i got my promo match for bushing against a poor orange rank haha

Tekken 7 Ranking System + A more balanced point system. + You lose way more points when you're demoted. + More Ranks + It's harder to get to purple ranks. People in green ranks in Tekken 7 are now in Fujin ranks in Tekken 8. - Death Matches are more frequent in Tekken 7. Players will stay in long sets until a promotion or demotion happens. Tekken 8 Ranking System + 2 out of 3 matches + 3 Streak point system. You will either gain or lost at least 1k points based + No contest option if the match is too laggy - Point system is flawed. If a player is ranked more than 2 ahead of you, then you shouldn't lose more points. - Promotions matches right after being demoted. Players can sandbag during their Demotion match and then win their next match for more points.

no it is definitely a thing with ranked. the longer you play the longer it takes to find matches. also if you decline matches it seems to take longer. the way i bypass this is to go back to map select and restart the queue. seems to work every time for me.

Ngl, it’s so depressing sometimes when you’ll find a match or two and then afterwards it just stops finding matches of players close to your skill level when playing ranked and quick match, I wish they would bring back death match in ranked, people would actually enjoy long sets with other people around their skill level just playing and trying to rack up points and demote that one opponent at some point, idk about this ranking system but something needs to change or get better.

Always thought from the beginning it should have been unlimited rematch for player matches. Lose and learn in player matches and use ranked to rank up. I'm not that good a player but I have heard about the rank points being weird. Think they're trying to push people into the lobbies and using avatars ultimately going into the Tekken Shop etc, I could be wrong.

it’s unacceptable… their code is a jank rollback that dwindles down to how bad your other opponents connection is, they’ve done nothing about cheaters, no wifi filter, no ping filter, no easy way to match friends rivals etc., lobby is just there to peddle crap from the shop, it’s unacceptable. stop spending money on this game until they fix the basics. i don’t even care about balancing right now i want a better online experience

8:40 (aside from me just not being good enough lol) this is the reason why I feel like I can't really make any meaningful progress with the points after GoD. Along with the streak system because what usually happens is I'm fighting Tekken Gods for a while not getting many points for winning, and then I run into the same GoD twice in a row who is just better than me and then I get the loss streak penalty. But as soon as I dip into TGS, then I get the win streak bonus from Tekken Gods so it doesn't take long for me to get back into GoD. It's weird I feel like I'm in a separate rank from the GoDs who are able to keep gaining points, but in a way it's an incentive for me to get better still to get to a point where I can compete well enough with the other GoDs to maintain the rank.

The whole ranked system needs an overhaul tbh, it's imo a significant downgrade from what T7 was. And that's saying something as T7's system wasn't perfect by any means. My biggest complain is the absence of deathmatches tho. In T7 I often used to play some people for like an hour straight (or more) if they were good and close matches and both players had fun. It was so much fun running long sets, and watch both players download each other as the games kept going, and adapting to each other every single game. You could really learn a lot from those sets. Like yeah, bo3 may emulate tournament settings, but this is ONLINE and not tournaments. Online is where you should be practicing your matchups, but that's hardly possible because many people one and done others, and it's bo3 at best anyway. Almost the only way to run longer sets these days is by hitting someone up and organising it. It's almost impossible to do that with randoms anymore.

I thought i was crazy. After a couple sets, i would be waiting around keeping my execution warm only for 5 minutes to pass with a bunch of failed matching attempts due to being unable to find the required connection to your settings. It is what it is since i do my best not to slave away in ranked, so it's for the best😅

And you know what's funny? None of this is ever gonna change. That's how they made it and that's how it's gonna stay. People complained about ranked in T7 for years. What did they do? They made literally one change ever that inflated the ranks and added the useless prowess stat. That's it. In 9 years of the game. So have fun y'all!

I love this game, but I really don't know how ranked works. I had to start over from Beginner, have matchmaking set to +/-3 preferred, and I routinely get people six ranks above or below me. I've gotten Ruler rank guys while I was in green. Prowess doesn't seem to play a part, either, as I've gotten plenty of people whose Prowess is more than twice as high as mine. Here's a tip to get more games, and you're not gonna like it 😂 .... Setup a new account, play with random characters, and lose more games 😂 Most people are playing at lower ranks, so for Pros like yourself, you need to give yourself a handicap to try and enjoy the game, maybe you can play with one eye, or decide not to use heat smash & rage art, or let the opponent win the first two rounds, and try and make a comeback. If your mentality is that you're always trying to win, you'll lose sight of the other elements that make the game fun. Of course, you could always do what the Pakistanian pros do, and play against each other, that way you wont be sitting around idling 😂

12:40 prowess is completey broken because I remember when Eddy came out and he started at beginner, pretty sure I got a prowess boost for going through those early ranks. My prowess is around the same as yours but I only have 2 characters at Tekken King and 1 at GoD. I know you have more characters higher rank than me yet we still have similar prowess like what?

I think they should just rework the tekken prowess matchmaking system. You should only fight people who have nearly the same prowess as you. That would definitely make rank a lot more refreshing.
