The piece is called "Chun Jiang Hua Yue Ye" (春江花月夜, Spring River Flower Moon Night), and is one of the great pieces in the traditional Chinese repertoire. It was arranged for traditional Chinese instrument ensemble in the 1920s from a Ming Dynasty pipa solo piece in many movements. The musicians heard here are eminent Chinese musicians of the mid-20th century and this performance presents a charming sound of the way musicians used to play this music decades ago.
