HOA fines parking violation: What are your rights?

Since July, David Lopez has been hit with two parking violations for parking his truck overnight in the street adjacent to his home in the Parkside At Slaughter Creek subdivision in south Austin. Candy Rodriguez reports.

Dude! Then don’t buy in an HOA if you don’t want rules. My wife and I sold and ran away from the old neighborhood that was crumbling (We moved into an HOA.) Home owners and renters started parking commercial trucks in the court. People parking on lawns and side yards. It’s the broken window theory… property values were in jeopardy. For us HOA was the best decision every.

Y'know, I'd agree with you if I didn't have (gah I hate using this) a brother who is in a wheelchair. My 2012 Honda CRV can't fit his wheelchair and is generally small for his general equipment thus I park on the street. Then I have issues with my HOA who says "Waah waah you cant park on the street or else we'll fine you!". I literally could get ZERO shits about aesthetitc, all I care about is my easy access for my families bigger vehicles that can fit my brothers wheelchair. Zero reason for me to be on the drive way as I'm in the way.

Wrong! The HOA belongs to the home owner who have the right to amend. Most members won’t amend the rules. I wonder why. If your not happy then run for the board. That is exactly what I’m doing.
