क्या अशोक ने अपने 99 भाइयों को मारा था?

वैसे तो सम्राट अशोक ने 99 या 100 भाइयों को मार दिया ये खुद वा खुद काल्पनिक बात है सिंघली बौद्ध भिक्षुवो की दीपवंश और महावंश, जिसको अशोक की मौत के 1000 साल बाद बातों को बढ़ा चढ़ाकर लिखा गया। तार्किक रूप से अशोक और सुसीम में युद्ध हुवा था इसलिए केवल सुसीम मारा गया होगा । यह अशोक के अभिलेखों से भी साफ़ है की उसके बहुत सारे भाई थे जीवित, इसलिए एक भाई तिष्य को छोड़कर सबको मार दिया ये खुद काल्पनिक है।
दीपवंश के अनुसार, यह कहा गया है कि अशोक ने 100 भाइयों को मार डाला और सबसे छोटे भाई तिश्य को जिंदा छोड़ दिया।
महावंश में लिखा है कि अशोक ने 99 भाइयों की हत्या की और सबसे छोटे भाई तिष्य को जिंदा छोड़ दिया।
तिब्बती बौद्ध परंपरा में, तारानाथ की 'भारत में बौद्ध धर्म का इतिहास' में कहा गया है कि सिंहासन प्राप्त करने के लिए हुवे युद्ध में अशोक ने 6 भाइयों की हत्या की।

However, some sources say that the numbers 99 and 100 are exaggerated and that Ashoka likely killed several of his brothers. Other sources say that Ashoka's Rock Edict No. 5 mentions officers who were responsible for the welfare of the families of his brothers, sisters, and other relatives, suggesting that more than one of his brothers survived.
Ashoka was the third emperor of the Mauryan dynasty. He was given the nickname "Chanda" Ashoka, which means "Ashoka the Terrible". His initial years of reign were marked by torture, vandalism, and manslaughter.
