In this video we discuss the a ready skill set of Kyle Filipowski, as well as the rumors regarding his current girlfriend that has led to many NBA executives electing not to draft him, which left him available for the Utah Jazz at pick 32 in the second round of the 2024 NBA draft. I'm an Ex-Mormon who lives in Utah. I would say most mormons don't try and alienate a spouse or prospective spouse from their families regardless of their religion or beliefs. If she (his girlfriend) did this it would be an indicator of her own psychopathy/narcissism. So if she really is a gold digger / coat tail rider, it's not because of the Mormon religion (and I'm no fan of LDS). That being said, the brother and mother sound like they have their own issues.

Yup. It's not like other 20-year olds are in place, where GF's and sidepieces aren't a factor. Just ask Zion or Giddey about this for reference. For the lighter side of things, Jalen Brown dating a grandma twice his age didn't stop Celtics from winning the chip.

I think the fact that his brother and mom looked to publicly attack him on the biggest day of his life tells a more compelling story of why he is estranged from them. I get that his GF is older, but his family knew what they were doing, and I just hope Flip comes to love his new home and community here in Utah

They were not attacking him, at most they were attacking the gf who from what we know almost certainly groomed him. If you were their parents and all of a sudden your kid starts dating their baby sitter from a (possible)cult and they cut off contact from you, you would be concerned too.

@@proforeveryone 1) do we know she was his babysitter. 2) if she’s so crazy, why did his parents hire her to babysit in the first place. 3) Grooming is a strong accusation (look up the actual definition, it’s not just about dating a minor)

@@ItsSnagret 1. As far as I know it has been confirmed by instagram posts. 2. "Crazy" if she is it, isn't something you immediately see in a person. I don't think she's crazy, but she might fit some people's definitions. 3. If what we've seen is true this would likely fit that definition, but also the allegation is that she "groomed" him into the religion. Its an imprecise use of the word but is also effective in communicating it. Like you said we dont know everything, and its somewhat being used as an excuse for why he slid, but I find it likely at least some of it is true.

Mentioned this somewhere else. but to me, Filipowski feels like our replacement for Kelly Olynyk an excellent pick for the Jazz, doubly so at 32 That being said, I've read enough doujins about older women and younger men to know where this is going...😏, Joking aside, I agree with you, as long as he remains professional and does his job to the best of his abilities, what he does in his private time is none of my business.

I think Kyle is a great pick if he fell in the draft because of this, Jazz can say thank you very much and get to business.

Would love to see lineups featuring Sexton/Keyonte at PG, Williams at the 2, Lauri at the 3, Hendricks at the 4, and Flip at the 5. With Keyonte, that’s a lot of size and shooting at every position. With Sexton, it’s a lot of efficient scoring and driving

not sure if he is such a steal, after watching locked on jazz. the host is not high on him. but since its 2nd round pick, there is only an upside possible. in worst case he's another Micah Potter anyways. and having an older girlfriend is not a crime i believe. The problem I have with all this drama around him is it seems like it would be way to long for her to be in it just for money (I could be wrong), and it depends what state they dated in for age of consent. Is it weird? Yes, but his family either are being spiteful to him or got into a fight with him, and they are blaming her cause I don't see LDS culture making him shut out his family in every way other the social media.

Filipowski was a steal at second round... Stil. Jazz drafted a winger (Hendricks) as first lottery pick last season, another winger (Cody Williams) as first lottery pick this season and Filipowski as a second round steal. Hated how Jazz traded Fontecchio away, basically for nothing. He was at his late 20's (28 i think). Now Jazz have 3 young wingers, who they really should focus on developing, and in theory have complimentary skillsets to eachother. So please Jazz, just trade Lauri away ASAP, as he's still a tradable asset and is starting to be one of the oldest players in the team, not really fitting into same timeline with all these newcomers. We all should know Jazz's front office is full of BS by claiming they want to build around Lauri, but mostly drafting wingers since he got there. Btw. Drafting thls many wingers also kinda goes against tanking for possible draft of Flagg a non feasible future strategy regardless of wether they keep Lauri or cash in for another haul of picks. Getting Filipowski was a absolute steal, and a right move to make. It just makes the bigger picture even harder to put together from perspective of a random couch potato like myself.
