Breath of the Wild is interesting because the 2016 trailer is more representative of the final game's mood, while the 2017 trailer has a 1.3x the views and is heavily cut-scene/story based...which is only like 5% of the game. Both are excellently edited trailers though so I can't complain!

In-engine doesn't mean "not prerendered" In-engine just means that the assets used will be the same as in the final game. They likely cranked up the anti-aliasing and shadow tech for the trailer where in-game they'll turn some of that down a bit.

@AdrianXunkeira3 жыл бұрын
@@Ayoul Killzone 2 announcement was a trailer in the E3 2005, a VG trailer sold like in game with such visuals that most of games nowadays can't even dream with. Uncharted 4 was announced with a CG teaser video in PSX Experience 2013 that was almost a logo in flames like Metroid Prime 4 or God of War PS5/PS4. When the game was first shown was a CG trailer that was another lie like Killzone 2, an stunning 60fps graphic showcase they said it was running on real time on PS4. Like everybody knows the game runs at 30fps even on the PS4 Pro. TLOU2 was revealed at PSX Experience 2016 with another 60fps CG trailer like Uncharted 4 before.

saying CORRECTION... I kind of expect Bloodworth to answer😁: Kyle, when game trailer is "rendered in engine" then every ounce of computing power is put toward very narrow segment of pure VIDEO and nothing else. There is no real AI for npc's that final game will have to devote power towards... No real physics either... All that is faked... Also everyrhing is poured into only those visual effects that are actualy visible on-screen at that milisecond, nothing besides that. That amounts to huge difference in actual computing potential for visuals in final game that has to run all those other things simultaniously. 🍻
@nilremkful3 жыл бұрын
It's worse than that. "Rendered in engine" does not mean "Rendered in real time". All they're saying is that its rendered by the engine, as opposed to RenderMan, VRay, Arnold, etc. The engine can take several seconds to render each frame, and still output a 60fps video when its done.
@phaedrussocrates76363 жыл бұрын
@@nilremkful great stuff, that is actualy the most important part and I totally forgot that😁👍
@Ayoul3 жыл бұрын
Correction of a correction: It's not true that everything is faked. A lot of it is, don't get me wrong, but they can and do use gameplay assets, FX, post FX, physics, code, etc if it works for their needs. It's just that as "nilremkful" points out, it's still pre-rendered and they do make custom assets A TON. I think it just comes from a time where that label actually meant something. At some point, it was pretty impressive what you could do with the game engine that used to be exclusively done in 3D and video editors. There were some games that had "in-engine" trailers where those trailers were actually cutscenes in the game. Still pre-rendered, but at least it was in the finished product. Very rarely the case anymore AFAIK.
