My new lease on life for you is this Kyle. Don't even think twice just throw that box away. Don't even check if it works first, don't wait 30 days incase you need to return it while it's still under warranty. If you need to return because it broke then you can throw it (optionally with wires) into any old box (maybe something you just bought) with a bunch of duct tape. It's how I live my life. I will accept keeping TV boxes though, even though they take up an entire closet, that's your TV box room.

I had a dream that Kyle made a video about 2021, wherein he equated the entire year to the uneaten pizza that you're stuck with at the end of a party. It was an analogy that seemed too plausible to *not* have been something I've heard somewhere, and subsequently stored away in my subconscious. The comparison started to fall apart, when he began complaining about how the last remaining slices are always covered with ketchup or spaghetti. First dream of the new year.

I threw my PS5 box away, and I'm moving next week. I'm taking it separately in the car, but the idea that the box will somehow but better than a banket is no dice to me. Everyday you give space to the PS5's box is a day you let your uncertain future take space from you now.

I also live in a tiny apartment and I threw out my PS5 box. I figured that there were things called "PS5 carrying cases" on Amazon that I could get for when I move, which would be less bulky than the original packaging and better for a plane cargo hold.

I usually save boxes for about a year. Or as long as I have space for them, and the box have no negative implications on my life. For me, it sounds like you can throw that box with good conscience.

You raise a good point about whether or not to keep your console boxes. I usually throw mine away, maybe keep it around until the warranty expires, but for the PS5 in particular, just buy a carrying case, and make sure it's a good one that's guaranteed to protect your console. Also slide it into a container while encased. Oh, before you throw away the box, make sure to write down or take a picture of the serial number for your records.

You keep the box just long enough to make sure you didn’t get a dud in case you have to return the thing. After you’re convinced it isn’t gonna blow up you throw away the box. When you move take the side panels off of your wobbly-gobbly and then it’s fine. Edit: I like the Tall Lady

I’m not telling what you should do but this is what I did: I threw all of the little paper parts in the trash day one and left the box, and the sleeve(is that called sleeve?) for my cats to play with for 2 months. When they got tired of it the wen straight into the paper recycle bin.

I wanted to bring the ps5 over to my brothers house so he could check it out and I asked my kids if they had any idea what we should carry it in. My 8 year old son suggested just packing it in the box it came in. Genius. If you take the outer shell off the original packaging it becomes a minimalist looking carrying case for the system. If you kept the long, thin rectangular box that sits on top then you can put all you wires and controllers in it and 5-6 games fit easily in their case stuff comfortably inside the box beside the system. Just make sure you keep the internal casing for the system that it is originally packed in.

I babysat my nephew for years by bringing my gaming pc wrapped in a blanket in freezing weather. I distinctly remember i had to take two breaks every time given the weight and i had to find a recycling or garbage bin to put pc on for rest... But then me and the nephew would have a blast playing games for the week-end. So yeah, blankets give better memories than the box that was in the way that year.

I sell with a gap before new hardware drops so I always need the box (old stuff sells preowned much faster when it is boxed). The gap is a couple of months without a console to reduce depreciation and increase my new hardware anticipation. In my last apartment I had a storage cage and right now I'm blessed to be in a house with an attic (no basements where I come from).

After buying multiple retro consoles this past year I recommend keeping the PS5 box. Not only for it's inevitable value but eventually you will be nostalgic for it or some future buyer. Keep it Kyle. Watch the box alone sell for $200+ in 5 years.

My attic is filled with boxes for all my expensive electronics stuff, just so I have the box for selling it later. Sold my PS4 Pro with the original box when I got my PS5, and it is useful for moving. But yeah that's a bunch of space being taken up by empty boxes.

I still have the boxes for every console I own (expect the NES and SNES). I'd recommend keeping it, but I don't have any problem with space at my home, so you know best. Like other suggested, there are other ways to carry your console (like carrying cases), so if you ever need to move, you could always buy those.

I still have my Switch box. For the first year, I used to put it inside whenever I wanted to take it to friends' houses. Now it's full of electronic nic nacs like usb cords and Wii remotes. I still have my Wii U box that I always keep the console in and actually hooked it up last month. I threw out my PS4 box because it's really easy to travel with.

Usually I try and keep my console boxes. But then when I move, I try to fit them back in the box, can't get them to fit just right, then I just say 'screw it' and wrap it in a blanket or put it in a backpack or similar with some cushioning in them.

I'm lucky enough to have a closet with a high shelf where I keep my misc console and other device boxes. I keep my Wii U in there boxed up but you never know when you are gonna want to play windwaker HD again. But that's just how I am, I have boxes of tools in my car trunk and I vacuum the house once a week, so Kyle, if that box is clutter for you, chuck it my dude. Happy new year. Boxes can net you some extra money if you resell later. I worked in a game store for about 8 years and an N64 in box sells for a bunch more than the system on its own.
