The 150r is quite high compression for a petrol, 12 or 13:1 I believe. Most diesels are around 16:1 so I guess coupled with the fact the bike runs quite hot, it managed to run on diesel!

That's what helped my Nissan GA16DE engine on diesel, is because it was saying to the computer "hey dude there's a lot of unburned fuel here in the exhaust, so lean her off a heap" and when it was soooo lean it was very hot and actually able to burn the diesel at that temperature, also it's 12-1 cr might have helped. You normally get the unburned diesel ending up in the sump and contaminating the oil, which being way overfill starts smoking a lot

This is funny. You obviously have no concept of fuels and how they work. You put jet fuel in a 2 stroke it won’t run.. it’s jp8/ k1. Now nitro in a gas engine.. that will run if you get the fuel metering right.

You should try running a bike on alcohol. Also I think the reason the YZ blew up and not the CRF, is because the YZ was 2 stroke and you didn't mix oil in the diesel.

The diesel prob cleaned any carbon or rust build up in the motor but the downside is it would wipe it clean of oil I would think. I bet prob cam and journals have some pretty good wear from it.

My Vietnamese friend told me in Vietnam they would start a Honda 90 ( some had an auxiliary fuel tank)with gas while cruising switch to diesel. When arriving at destination switch back to gas. I asked him why he said gas was expensive diesel was cheap.

Diesel in a gas engine doesn’t harm it at all! It doesn’t run with diesel, but u just have to drain the diesel and put gas back in then it works perfectly again!

im here because i went to take my son out on his 140cc 4stroke stomp 2023, filled it up with what i thought was petrol, it was actually deisel. started it and realised🤦. drained tank,drained carb,filled up with fresh petrol. it starts but only idles as soon as give it revs it bogs out,and if i go to pull of in gear it stalls😭 please im a newbie any help or advice would amazing.

How long did the 150 take to reach operating temp? Just asking as I have a water cooled 125 single cylinder 4T scooter with no temperature gauge and I want to know roughly how long after gentle driving I can start really pushing it. I live in a temperate climate with no extremes of hot or cold weather. I've been able to find answers for cars so say like 1L+ inline 4s, I've heard numbers anywhere from like 15 to 30 mins of normal driving, surely it must be less for a small single cylinder. Would imagine it's gonna warm up quicker due to being small but also there is less power strokes and less total friction in a single.

You can start gently driving it above 50F if you let it idle for about 20-30 seconds. Gentle driving means staying under 5k RPMs really If you need to have it rev a bit higher, let it idle for 1 minute or so If it's winter, you'll need to let it idle a bit longer than 60 seconds before you can take off After 30 to 60 seconds of gentle riding you can really start pushing it. With those GY6 engines the idea is just not to hammer the revs when stuff hasn't gotten a chance to get to temp

As a diesel engine mechanic the comments are laughable Diesel has 2x the btu value of gasoline but because it’s an oil it needs to be atomized to properly burn That’s why diesel engines run at 18:1 to 21:1 compression ratio and run anywhere from 12,000 psi to 40,000 psi fuel pressure Diesel doesn’t ignite because of glow plugs , that’s a starting aid It combusts because of pressure and heat thus the C at the front of the api oil rating for ( compression ignition ) where gas oils are S for spark ignition

Hi compression with hot a head will burn your diesel like a glow plug, I’ve run my truck on metho/paint thinner mixed with turpentine when I was in a pinch. It revved hi and did a few backfires but it got me from A to B about 30kms fine. The exhaust smelled sweet.
