The drummer is the most under appreciated member of any band. He or she, work their asses off, exert more energy and get seen less than the rest of the band, unless you do like Tommy Lee did. But watching your drum face, reminds me of Bonzo getting into it. The drum faces are similar. Awesome talent brother, great video.

Dude, I know that you posted this over a year ago but I’m KZbin surfing and just came upon it and watched it. I am a 51 year old fellow drummer playing since I’ve been 12. Man, you rock!! You have a great style. Your kit sounds great too. Your kits sound is obviously limited to how you recorded your kit, but even with that said & understood, I can tell from my experience that your kit sounds amazing live. I love your tuning. I like how you didn’t add anything fancy to the cover song to show off your skills more. Tommy’s a solid rock drummer and you pulled off the song flawlessly. I love how hard you hit the drums, man, but still have a grove behind you. Nothing worse than seeing a rock band playing live where the drummer isn’t putting any power behind the songs. A weak drummer can change the dynamics of the band just like a strong solid drummer can improve the band’s live presence. If your in a band, your buddies must love playing with you and your driving beats. Just wanted to give you a shout out about my thoughts of your playing. Look. I’m no “Neil Peart” but I’ve seen a ton of drummers in my time & I’ve played in bands my whole life so I hope this comment finds you well. Stay safe and healthy!! Keep on pounding those drums!

Thank you!!! Are you talking the big rock ending right at the very end? It took me so long to be able to play that in time with the track. Especially with the pressure of knowing you have the take and not wanting to mess up right at the end 🤣 It really helps to slow it down and practice it at 80% speed or so. Try out AnyTune or an app like that that allows you to slow down songs. Internalizing the timing at different tempos can really make a big difference. Good luck!!!

What's the other mic you are using to blend with on your snare with the SM57? By the way... your snare sounds amazing and I can tell its tuned to the song too which is amazing!
@KyleMcGrail4 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! It's a Samson C02. If you've never heard of that model before, you can get individual ones used for dirt cheap. It does a great job of capturing more brightness and resonance than a 57 so it gives me a ton of control over those characteristics when I blend the two mics together. The only downside is it has more bleed to deal with than a dynamic on the snare does, but I use it as a way to accent the 57, not as my main source. I also use one of those for my hi hat close mic and have used a pair as my overheads since I first started recording myself and only very recently decided to upgrade them to 414's (meaning I never felt they were the thing holding back my drum sound). The frequency response really just lends itself to drums and cymbals. There are obviously better mics out there, but they do a shockingly good job at stacking up to mics that cost much, much more. Absolutely worth looking into. Thanks again! 🤘🏻
