Hi, my name is Garold Williams. I watched your video and it is very well done! I just have to add a little to what Konel said, when you asked him who invented the Ember. In his excitement, he forgot to say that him and I are both the inventors. Konel and I have developed several products, the first being the Vest heater/stove.
@SeattleSandro
@SeattleSandro 5 ай бұрын
Hey, since you're one of the inventors, perhaps you can answer a question. I'm super-interested in this to expand my camp-cooking options. If you are using sticks and twigs to start a fire and heat up the oven and then switch to charcoal for sustained heat, will the smoke from the sticks and twigs impart any unpleasant smoky flavors to the food in the oven? While I like that you can use canned heat, I would prefer to use charcoal for sustained heat since i've always got some Kingsford, but I don't always have canned heat and don't want to store another fuel source.

GOD BLESS YOU!!!!! I have a Vesta- I can't tell you what a difference it's made!! I live in a 29 ft Fireball fiver that wasn't well taken care of before I got it. Electric heaters would only keep a section warm at a time. I took the chance and bought a Vesta because it would be cheaper than buying and installing a wood stove. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!! In 20 degrees outside, 3 chafing fuels (6 hr fuels from Sams), the electric heater on med (it's all the wiring here can handle) and instead of wearing a coat inside and hoping for spring, It remained 70-74 inside and I was comfortable and warm. GOD BLESS YOU BOTH!! I saw a listing for the instafire oven and I've been saving ever since . I live in NM and it's blazing hot in the summer, so I can take this outside and bake. Inside during our freezing winters, I can bake and heat at the same time without running up the electric bill. I can't say enough good about the Vesta. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!!

I wonder if you could put a couple of 12x12 tiles or stones in a large sheet metal baking pan under it? Just make sure it sits flat. The stones will heat as the oven works, and will radiate that heat back out for radiant warmth, when it's cold. It's an added layer of protection against the surface under the oven, as well.

In 1955 my mother had a indoor outdoor oven. I remember her baking bread outside. She had an open flame stove she used outside. She would set the oven over the burner it would heat to temperature very fast. The stove was similar to a large Coleman, it had 4 legs and was about the height of a regular stove. It had two or three burners. I haven’t been able to find an oven like she had. I remember the bread she baked in this oven. Two or three loaves at a time. Pies and Cake’s too.

I just looked up the price of Canned Heat the cheapest I found was $2.97 and you need two of them so that's about $6 plus tax and they only run for approximately 2 hours so it's going to cost you $6 every time you want to bake something in that oven. And don't forget that's not all cooking time with those cans because you have to preheat this with that same can that you have to cook with with a 2-hour run time. And when the stores run out of that fuel there goes that option. I wish they would have spent more time on being able to use sticks and small kindling to run this so you don't have to purchase stuff at the store to be able to use it.

Good review, and I like Jonathan and Kylene emphasizing safety with fire, especially indoors. The Ember looks like a good indoor option, especially for small families that store gel alcohol fuel. I wish Kylene had shown how her small baked item turned out, evenly cooked or not, and how it compared to full size oven results with more controlled heating, and how long it took. Like bake 2 loaves of bread, one in the conventional oven and one in the Ember and show them side by side. It would have been truly awesome to compare the Ember to the Omnia Oven which also works indoors on any kind of burner, including liquid alcohol, or to a Dutch oven, or to a traditional outdoor camping oven like the Coleman, or golly, all of them.. It also looks small, like a toaster oven, so what is the largest pan that fits? Can you bake a round 2 pan cake? Roast a whole chicken? It doesn't look like it.

It's great that you think about the safety aspect and potential for fire getting out of control ... This being said, may I suggest that you look into a couple of "fire blankets" that can quickly extinguish any fire (including a grease fire on the stove eg) because simply placing the blanket over the fire will cut off the oxygen .. better than a fire extinguisher, because you won't ruin your kitchen with chemicals, and no worries about being outdated and insufficient to take care of the fire !!! Fire blankets are inexpensive and I would bet that your local fire department would be happy to give a demonstration etc !!!

@@herbhoffmannbeck7584 Those fire blankets can shed fiberglass though which is less than ideal. I picked up an Element Fire Extinguisher for in the kitchen. It won't ruin your kitchen and is safe to breathe. They're just a bit pricey.

We have a large gas grill with a cover. It does have to stay outside, but we do believe we can adjust the temperature a little better than we can this little oven. Seeing your demonstration I am not sure I want to bake anything like a casserole that would take an hour, or two and sit there constantly adjusting it. We can put our gas grill right outside the sliding glass door. From there we can see the temperature on the temperature gage and quickly turn the knob up or down if it needs adjustment. We also have large umbrellas and can put the grill under a balcony onto the patio under it for protection from snow or rain. Soooo, before I buy the Ember I am going to experiment with the gas grill. We have multiple freezers so if I do lots of small single or double serving meals in aluminum pans then we can heat what we need if it needs high heat. I also have two smaller round Crome chaffers, and one large professional sized one that holds 2 9 x 13 pans, or one ginormous pan in that space. With two sterno cans I can easily have the water in the bottom pan boiling and it would heat freezer meals quite nicely, although it definitely would take longer than our ovens….although I am thinking better than trying to heat up and maintain the Ember at 350-400 degrees for any amount of time. Soooo, I am going to gamble and go for 2-3 extra 20 lb butane tanks. I can let a freezer meal thaw, then heat it in the chaffers. I will practice baking biscuits and smaller yeast rolls, and even loaves of bread and see just what it takes to do that in the grill. We also have two solar power sources and might be able to power our little electric skillets and make pan bread and tortillas. You have me thinking, and I already have all of that equipment. By the way, I did make breakfast and a boxed macaroni and cheese dinner by pulling an oven rack out of my electric stove and putting a 27 oz can of food from the pantry under each corner. I cooked the macaroni under 2 cans of sterno to get it boiling in a reasonable way; I used one can of sterno under my omelette pan and fried eggs and, bacon, and sausage (and I have stocked up some brown and serve sausages just for when our power might go out. We can toast bread in the omelette pan…slow process for 6 people but it worked…..and might be able to toast in my square grill pan that came with my cookware…I did not try it because we ate in shifts. And, of course if I bake biscuits, then I only need to make the sausage gravy on my oven rack stove while the biscuits bake in the gas grill. Long, but I will let you know how my tests come out. By the way, we live at 8,600’ altitude on the front Range of the Rocky Mountains…about 30 min up out of Colorado Springs. We definitely can give that gas grill a good test. I may be out there in my fur coat cooking! And, I am 77.5 years old, birthday in March. LOL. My husband is 82 yrs will be 83 in June. Thankfully we are both strong and healthy compared to most people our ages which is a blessing.

Yes you can use pellets. The grate is small enough that they will work. However, you need to add them a few at a time. If you add a cup then it gets smoky and takes a minute to catch ... don't ask me how I know :)

So…I bought one of these and quickly found out that my bread pan fit in it, but not much else. I do have a glass baking pan that fit, so I decided to try making brownies in it (I was using canned heat.) Not only did they take a LONG time, but only the top really got done-they were quite gooey underneath. The temperature remained between 300 and 350, so I’m not sure what went wrong. Are there some metal pans (other than bread pans) that will fit in this? I’m thinking that a metal pan might bake better in it.

I wish people would think things through. They see a review of a product that a KZbinr is making a commission on plus the money they make off of KZbin for views. I get all that I'm fine with all that if people remember that's actually what's happening. People get all excited and think it's going to be as useful as the oven in their house and they're not considering the cost of being able to actually use it and we all know with supply chain shortages there is going to be shortages of this fuel as well. I didn't check the price of this company's fuel but the cheapest I found was Sterno at$ 3.00 a can so it's $6 every single time you want to use this to bake a loaf of bread or a very tiny Pizza or dish for one person. So in all practicality this will be an outside iuse item. And you said in the video that the paint is already bubbling on its first or second use! They didn't bother to use high heat paint a wood stove paint doesn't peel neither does barbecue grills. I'm very disappointed in this channel for pushing this product because people see you review things and they trust you and they just go buy now instead of thinking it through. I see many channels that get large that do this exact same thing so they can sustain their level of income from their channels they start offering/pushing products that really are a waste of money in the long run. There are much better options for baking/cooking outdoors. Because realistically for the average person the price of using this indoors is unsustainable. Someone brought up a great point in one of the other comments of being able to use a propane stove or a propane oven which would be much much cheaper then this will be to use and propane is a lot more easily sourced than Sterno is going to be when your in a "it hits the fan scenario" ***SIDE NOTE After reading some of the comments I don't want people that think that I'm picking on them but a lot of the things that people have said that they are going to do I'm pretty sure that they have never even tried. The time to figure out your emergency props is not during an event/ reason that they were bought for. I have watched enough videos on this channel and they tell you to use your emergency use items so you know how to use them before you absolutely have to use them. Many many people ignore this step. Perfect example especially in a household with teenagers they lose their mind when there is no power for 15 minutes let alone 24 or 48 hours. Go to your breaker box one weekend and turn off every single breaker. And you're only allowed to use your preps and all of the shortsighted items that you have bought and just stuck in a closet somewhere thinking you're going to be golden. You also cannot use water out of the faucet and turn off the water to the toilet so they can figure out whether or not they're going to be able to flush it. Because if you can't make it for 48 hours minimum you are not even close to being prepared.

I only feel a little picked on. You make a very valid point. However, as we point out, you can purchase 12 6-hour cans of Safe Heat at Sam's Club for $20. That makes it very reasonable in my opinion. I am a huge fan of the VESTA that uses Safe Heat to both cook and heat. This oven is unique because you can use canned heat indoors but you can use simple sticks and twigs outside with the same device. There are many of our viewers that have limited options I think that canned heat is a fantastic option for those who live in apartments or condos where they can't safely store other fuels. Others are limited due to age or disability. I appreciate that you are thinking things through. We experiment with everything before we recommend it and there are many things that we refuse to create videos on. When we turned off our power, I learned several things. One of which was that I did not want to go outside to cook anything. I lost all motivation due to the cold and the dark. Something like the VESTA or this EMBER would have been quite valuable. I'm a fan even if you are not. It is great that there are options for all types of personalities and situations. Thanks for being part of the solution!

@@TheProvidentPrepper for those that live near Sam's Club that is way more practical if you get 6-hour cans 12 of them for $20. That at least becomes reasonable for emergency use. But not for long term sustained outages. I know near my house and the cabin it's at least 45 minutes each way to go to a Sam's Club and I didn't use enough of their products to make it worth it for me to pay for a membership to only use occasionally. I don't know about their online ordering or if you have to pay for delivery that may be an option as well. Thankfully the cost of solar generators get some more and more reasonably priced all the time which gives people more options. The only thing that I did like about this item was that you could actually use it outside with twigs and sticks so it wasn't limited to only using purchased fuel which may not always be available. However, I still think there are better options more Suited especially for $200. I hate being cold so being outside to cook when it's cold is not something I would look forward to either LOL and especially at the cabin it's very dark in the woods at night. I wouldn't be a fan of that either. I will have to look up the Vesta and see your video on that I have not heard of that. I have however watched many many of your videos and this is the first time I've ever had negative things to say about any product that you have recommended. I do feel we all have a responsibility with today's economy and exorbitant inflation to recommend and spend our money wisely on items that serve a purpose both practically sustainably. I really don't think this product does that and I know we're going to agree to disagree on this one but I know that would be a lot of Hassle and the additional expense if I had to bake bread in this every single day. Let's face it, it can pretty much only bake a meal for one in it. There were some really great suggestions in this thread on how other people deal with power outages and cooking economically during outages. That also would be useful for people in apartments or seniors with mobility issues. That is definitely one of the advantages to your channel... you have a great group of people in here that come together collectively to share experiences/ideas respectfully. And to repeat what I said about I enjoy your channel I watched many many videos and like I said this is the first time that I've disagreed with something. Have a blessed evening!

Efficient or sustainable? I love indoors because the canned heat is super easy to work with and doesn't take much tending. However, there is pretty much an endless supply of sticks and twigs so in a tough situation you will always have outdoor cooking fuel. It worked really nicely with charcoal.
