Just found your channel and started watching this and will go back and watch the follow up to this one. I backed this solely for the Entrance Set (always have been and will be a big set fan. Which sucks as the last really cool one time set we saw from memory was Capitol Punishment back in 2011.) Would love to get the Titan Tron, Oval Tron and classic Nitro Entrances and maybe some PPV ones as well. I'm looking at you Halloween Havoc 98 or the Bash at the Beaches

I would have launched with a Full scale Wrestling Arena where you can connect the crowd seats and steps together in one big half circle, also with a few Ultimate Editions like Andre The Giant, Hogan, JYD and King Harley Race! Diesel was one of the Worst choices to go with.

I went ahead & backed 2 of them. Honestly, I love the ring! If they really wanted to, they could just update the ring skirts, ropes & turnbuckles to change the era. The Attitude Era, Ruthless Aggression, all the way up to the newest era. I personally would LOVE to see that. I’d buy those every time. Edit: I would also LOVE to see a old School WCW entrance & ring or ring shirts.

We had a lot of the same thoughts of what to do different. Launch WM weekend with ads during SD, WM, and Raw. I woulda done an early bird right away but make it small. Like the rings skirts. That way gives incentive to people to back it early but not discourage people who missed out on that window. Also woulda waited to announce the stretch goals. Don’t announce extras at different tiers until you know you’re gonna hit your minimum goal. And UE WM8 Hogan is what I woulda launched with instead of Diesel. And my stretch goals woulda been KOTR96 Warrior and WMX Macho. If I were to do Diesel then it woulda been Two Dudes with Attitude along with HBK in an ultimate 2 pack with all the belts.

I’m still on the fence about getting this. I agree with you that they should have included alternate ring skirts. If they included a more modern day ring skirt and turnbuckle set with this I would have been a definite buyer. I think Bret Hart or Shawn Michaels would have worked better as the included figure. A lot of people, myself included, missed their earlier Ultimates. Maybe make Diesel a stretch goal. It’s also a bit odd to me that they included Macho Man when we just got a Ultimate figure that is basically a New Generation era Macho Man. I know that attire might not technically be from the New Generation era but it’s pretty darn close. I would have been fine with just putting that figure at the commentary table. And it’s probably not realistic but I would have loved if Mattel included a Todd Pettengill figure with this.

Thanks for your perspective I agree 100%. As someone in business I feel there was no marketing. Like you said why didn’t nash do a cameo on it. Sergeant slaughter did for the ultimate figure. And I did think it was kind of odd like you said there really is no marketing for this the biggest marketing that they have done was talk to Matt Cardona an Brian Myers. And the few times you’ve talked about it. And it was weird that they said we had to cut into the marketing budget to do macho man but once again what marketing

I have the jakks rings - 3 of them I think. WM2 with old blue bars cage, One that came with Real Scale Hell in a Cell, Another that came with Real Scale Elimination Chamber - that set is so gorgeous. Possibly another one that came with the Real Scale Money in the Bank set. So yeah, I'm good for rings. Extreme Sets pretty much covers anything else you could need for an arena.

I am so on the fence about this. I still have my Hasbro WWF ring from back in the day and it's in fantastic shape. I also just grabbed an AEW toy ring for $20 to display more of my guys. Im still on the fence, but will need to decide by Friday. Macho and the entrance is all I would really want out of this. I have no space for a ring like this, and Im mostly an inbox collector. I agree with you, there should have been so much more in terms of mock ups and promotions of in-box. Sgt Slaughter was clearly laid out, and that was a major selling point for me to buy two. And with a potential resale looking like two years out, I dont know I can hold onto an investment of $250 to maybe get my money back.

Amen to all of this, Kyle. Obviously hindsight is 20/20, but there were some pretty big early missteps that put this in jeopardy right out the gate. The execution since has been baffling, and I don’t foresee them being able to add more after the 13th either. You gotta feel for the guys putting in so much effort to make this happen, but as they said in Mean Girls, “Stop trying to make fetch happen.” This seems doomed, but I did my part. P.S. You look like a young WCW Giant. And I mean this in a nice way.

I’m backed with one, might grab a second. Lots of very good points, my opinion they should of launched it day 1 with Diesel and Shawn Michaels. I know we’ve already had a HBK but many missed out and it’s one of the most valuable Ultimates around. Make the second tier the Doink and the third Macho with the announce table. These will be 1/5000 ultimates (roughly). Will that make them the most limited run ultimates? In the end. Back the ring! Back the entrance! Back the figures!

This Is what’s holding me back.. my favourite era and the one I grew up on is the attitude era, and I would’ve 100% backed an attitude era stage/ramp, ring and x3 figure set up but I’m reluctant to spend $250 on something I don’t really want just to hope they do something I do want. I’m a fan of Diesel /Kevin Nash , but already have his network spotlight figure and that’s definitive for me. If they had some other exclusive figure from that era like a 95 Michaels I think that would’ve helped . However it is a good deal if you get The Macho Man incentive . I just don’t have the money for it right now.

I agree mania would have been a better launch time for this. I would also bill it as a Wrestlemania 8 ring - and offer the new generation skirts as a kicker with a New Generation figure (like Doink or a figure we have never seen before) for a bigger tier. Before releasing all the Hulks, include the first Ultimate Red and Yellow Hogan with the Flag Tank top from mania 8 and USA Flag should have been part of it

If you want suits, best bet is to buy a suit molded figure that's been previously made and do a bunch of head swaps. If they did a horsemen generations pack, it would be cool to get mongo mcmichael's made into a figure, since he never had one made. mcmichael's, Ole, JJ Dillion, (benoit-will never happen), otherwise you can buy Psycho Sid, Brian Pillman, Mr Perfect, Dean Malenko, Lex Luger, and Sting and other members that waived the horsemen banner, already have figures, and there horsemen look didn't really differ or change much from their regular appearances. Only one I think I missed was Paul Roma, and I dont ever remember when that dude was horsemen, and I don't want him anyways!!

Love your assessment of what should have been done differently. Agree macho man should be extended until the end. One thing I don’t get is if new generation is your theme fine, but Mattel dropped the ball and could have had a two dudes with attitudes Shawn Michaels to go with Diesel, Shawn is another homerun hitter in the line up you mentioned warrior, hogan, macho, rock, Austin. Even if that Shawn won the ultimate vote for Amazon (not sure which won) I’m definitely backing but also gonna be upset Doink most likely isn’t happening. And I really hope your idea of bash at the beach nwo comes to life. I’d buy a ton of those.

Great video man. I believe they should of done a more tiered backing system so like on Kickstarter. That would of given opportunity for the super keen and or rich to go heavy on it. The price point is fine for what you are getting especially when including Macho Man. But for example… Tier one: The Ring Tier two: The ring plus figure Tier three: The Ring plus 2 figures Tier three: All of the above plus signed by Kevin Nash Tier four: all of the above plus your face in the crowd on the box Tier five: all of the above plus invitation to Mattel factory to see it being made That way they could get more investment quicker and also allow people to do what they want, they could even go lower for just the Macho Man set only. That might sell so many it funds majority of the ring anyway. This is me thinking about it for 10 minutes so given the time they have had not sure why they didn’t have better ideas.

I agree with every point you made here. I just hope this 1st crowd funding effort doesn't sour the Mattel brass on the concept. Figures was the way to go. LJN styled packaging Ultimates figures like the SDCC Sarge would have been funded day one. Not just with WWE but their other properties, mainly MOTU. Macho man has already been tooled, so it’s not a huge increase in cost to add him. I think they realised that the profits wouldn’t be sliced by adding Macho. The ring skirts… that’s third tier? WTF!? What they’ve put together is great, the cost WAS too much. if it gets to Doink, then it’s beautiful for all that buy. I'm truly perplexed. Right out of the Gate, they should of had the announce table and Macho man, so the perceived value was there from the start.. (or Shawn Michaels). Then tiers 6000 ring aprons, 7500 for a new never made before figure, so it's a first time and maybe only time to get a Jobber like Iron Mike Sharp. Anyways, if the ring isn't backed, I'll just buy the AEW ring with Aubrey.. Aubrey is hot!!

I don't think this should be backed for a lot of the reasons you mentioned at the start. Because it will make Mattel do this all the time and I'm not a big fan of major companies doing this. Not to mentioned we've been getting rings for years now without crowd funding. The jakks ring came out with these details years ago without crowd funding. Not to mention there's a ring on figure toy company you can customize to look like this.

@@KylePeterson1980 as far as details I mean the ring has die cast ring post and cloth turnbuckles. Set aside the figures which could've been sold separately at a later date. The announce table with cloth mics, headsets etc. You can already buy these things cheap at figure toy company/ amazon. So if you're like me and have all of these things. It's a tough sell. Because all your missing is the WWE logo on the turnbuckles. Not to mention most moderate to hardcore collectors with room already have multiple rings.

It's a ring and entranceway for the least watched period in the WWF lifespan. It's a nostalgia piece that plays to the lowest number 9f collectors. A massive piece that's difficult to display, if you're going to go big then just go all the way and do 98 Raw with a Titantron. The whole package is a really strange choice. I honestly have no use for it so won't just back it in the hope that they make more interesting projects in the future.

They shit the bed on this. So much initial confusion. Nothing was explained well. They weren't ready. It wasn't until notsam clarified with steve that everything's in packages. We should've had pics of this exactly as it would look moc. All that aside, it still was 💯 the wrong way to go to start. Even if it was the stage and the macho pack for $150 it would've done better. Everyone who's not a bandwagoner already has multiple rsr's, at least one elite diesel and an elite doink and lots of machos. Theres literally nothing exciting here. And the stage doesnt need a thousand light features. One solid or blinking light behind it would be plenty. An in your house set wouldve been a homerun as well. Not to mention if it were a retro stage of some sort with mean gene and a few more retros for $100-150 it would've flown..

It's a epic fail due to Mattel focuses only to Usa market..A lot of european and asian collectors want to buy this bundle, but they dont wanna pay a lot of money for international shipping and CUSTOMS.

@@KylePeterson1980 for france its 20$ but now in europe in France for sure i pay 40% of fee its stole , usa can be something because irs not like they make and sell here so not deloyal concurrency, so if i want 2 i pay 250$ in my land its terrible .

It's Mattel unfortunately, good ideas horrible execution. Why not take a poll and see what people would want. Or just realize the ring is the anchor and do the figures and the enterance stage.

This was a total rip off to begin with, still a rip off with Macho included as well. They should have included the ring, entrance, Nash, Macho, Doink and the extra ring skirts for the $250, then had two smaller items for the two other tier goals.

With inflation that it’s going to hit really heavy starting in the fall and knowing this will ship a year from now with Macho I feel it is a good price point especially when you’re looking at only 5000 of these figures compared to +20,000 on a normal run. Just comes down to is the cost right for you with the selection I guess at this point
